Fake Windows 10 RTM Download Links Show Up on YouTube

Windows 10 is projected to launch on July 29, after eventually reaching RTM in late June, but cybercriminals have spotted the growing interest in the final bits of the operating system and are now trying to take advantage of it with all kinds of scams.

A simple search on YouTube, for instance, returns tens of videos that promise to lead you to a download link for Windows 10 RTM, and what’s worse is that several already have thousands of views.

Unsurprisingly, they’re all scams, and once you click the links published in the description of the video, you are redirected to fake download websites that ask you to complete some surveys before proceeding with the actual download.

Once you complete a survey, the scammer receives money for leading you to the survey page, so the more people fall victims to this scam, the more money they make.

And in case you’re wondering what happens when you complete a survey and you actually get to download what was supposed to be Windows 10 RTM, the answer is as simple as it could be: you’re provided with a fake ISO image, in some cases a preview build of Windows 10, and there’s nothing you can do because the scammer has already received the money for the survey.

So, rule of thumb, stay away from such videos and do not download any file that comes from unknown or suspicious websites.

So many of those Gullibles might have upgraded their their Windows, too - I bet some of them might have even received Windows Updates, by now.
