Windows 10 RTM: June is the target
MlmnEx.jpg
Microsoft is moving at a very quick pace with Windows 10, from new technical previews being pushed at a semi-regular pace, to also building Windows 10 for phones at the same time. It goes without saying that all the engineers at Redmond are putting in long hours to bring you technical previews that have already been released, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for the final build.
The next logical question is when will the OS be completed? We are hearing that Microsoft is targeting the month of June at this time, but as with any timeline, this could slip.
Why is the company targeting June instead of its traditional August release? Well, the month of August did not make a lot of sense if you were trying to sell licenses and devices for the back to school market. Previously, when an OS hit RTM in August, hardware from OEMs would not be ready until October which is good for the holidays but misses the back to school shoppers.
So, Microsoft is doing the logical thing here and will push for Windows 10 to RTM in June so that it can have devices ready for the school shoppers, like the next generation Surface.
While we are still digging around for more details, Microsoft knows that it can't ride the Surface Pro 3 forever, it will need to include a Broadwell chip in the device in the near future to remain competitive. Sure, the rush is not immediate, but it needs to happen sooner rather than later, and why would Microsoft launch a new Surface with Windows 8.1?
If you look back to last year, Microsoft released the Pro 3 in June, perfect timing for the back to school market. It would make a lot of sense for the company to release the next generation Surface around the same timeline with Windows 10, and we believe that is their current intention at this time.
Look for Microsoft to talk a lot more about Windows 10 at its upcoming developer conference, BUILD, that takes place at the end of April.
[update] For a bit more information about the timetable, if you look at the Windows 8 release schedule, that OS hit RTM August 1st, 2012 and Windows 8's consumer preview was at the end of February.
For Windows 10 the 'consumer preview' arrived in January which means for Microsoft to hit the June RTM schedule, they are on-track as they only need to shave about 30 days off of the Windows 8 release patterns which they have already done so far with Windows 10.

now read the users comments and then you will notice that nothing is like mass media says xD

Windows 2000- ME--- PP Complained, Windows XP --- PP Complained, ----Windows 7 ----PP Complained, -- Windows 8/8.1 ---PP still Complains ---- When Windows 10 comes around--- I can guaranteed PP will still be Complain.!

That is nature of some human being --- I don't listen what people says, just follow my own opinion.

and only after these complaints, Microsoft really improved most of these OS with Services Packs, solving the real user needs, but sadly since Windows 8.x not anymore, now we hope Microsoft will not fail again with Windows 10.

It's an even greater step from 7. It's free for a year, just do it, there's no good reason to keep using 7 once 10 is released, unless it's a compatibility issue of some sort.

It's an even greater step from 7.

in technical aspects yes but not in the UI and the customization of it.

You've always been able to fully customize Windows to suit whatever you desire.

Please list what can be configured in W7 that you can't configure in W10 or 8.1 with either what's built into Windows or with third party apps.

8.x looks pretty ugly on the Metro side, but honestly I don't go there very often at all.

I'd still recommend 8.1 over 7 any day...and I wasn't a big fan of 8 at the start.

Windows needed touch apps, they just did a shit job of integrating them. 10 will have it a lot better.

Again, you don't need to use them, why people bury their feet because they're not willing to try or change, I don't know.

The benefits FAR outweigh the trivial yet easily configured "negatives" You'd just be missing out.

And in the end you'd be on Windows 10,11 or 12 anyway, because by the time 11/12 is out 7 will be truly dead.

Not like you have much of a choice, upgrade and work your way through your "issues" with it.

I'm not a fan of the new icons in 10, that ain't going to stop me having a free upgrade, I'll find a new icon pack.

Depends on the pedigree of the User making those comments - I would personally never pass judgement on something simply because it was certified by others (especially given how my own 8.1 excels against my own Windows 7, in almost every department.)

Microsoft looks set to release the final version of Windows 10 earlier than first thought, possibly in June.

From The Inquirer:

The release to manufacturer (RTM) would allow vendors to customise the software and have it ready for back-to-school stock in August. This is a jump for Microsoft, which would traditionally go to RTM in late August for release in October.

Of course, all this could change, and we could be drumming our collective fingers in October after major borkage problems are discovered. Or we may not.

You've always been able to fully customize Windows to suit whatever you desire.

except in Windows 8.x.

Please list what can be configured in W7 that you can't configure in W10 or 8.1 with either what's built into Windows or with third party apps.

for example all the skin settings that were present in: XP, Vista & 7 now are not present in Windows 8.x even the classic theme was removed and the options for colours and fonts of it are not present anymore.

things to read about it:

if you have to use third party apps to customize the OS then it means the OS lacks of it.

i'm talking about native customizations options of the UI (from previous Windows versions) that now are not present in Windows 8.x.

Native Customizations!

Now, why would anyone want to suffer any software (let aside something as vital as his OS) in its default (or native) state - especially, in a :pirate: forum with nearly unlimited resources? lEMe01Z.gif

Exactly my point - you are again pointing out to posts made by other Users (whose pedigree cannot be verified) - can you post a link about your own personal hands-on experience with Windows 8.x?

My observation is that most folks write tales and reviews based on rumors without having personally even tried out Windows 8.1x ever, for themselves - are you one of those people?

is the forum of Windows 10 Technical Preview where we all are talking about our experiences with it.

just read the the links (especially the first) and you will see that even there are pictures of users desktops including me (with other nickname ofc) showing the lacks of customization options of the OS and others issues, same you can see here: https://windows.uservoice.com/forums/265757-windows-feature-suggestions/suggestions/6592376-why-windows-10-has-less-features-than-windows-7

We??? I see only one single person - YOU!

The rest of us have the capability to turn our Windows 8 into a piece of art (without making silly excuses that it involves 3rd party applications.)

BTW, those 3rd party application take up absolutely no resources, whatsoever (but, help to beat the sh!t outta our Windows 7.)
