steven36
Earlier this week the 2015 Oscar nominees were announced, an event that inspired many people to check out the contenders. This increased interest is noticeable in legal channels and on various pirate sites, where nearly all of the 36 Oscar contenders are readily available. The Oscars is the biggest award show of the year and is closely followed by hundreds of millions of movie fans. This week the new nominees were announced and as usual that triggered a spike in sales, theater visits and illegal downloads. The interest of torrent users for Best Picture nominee “The Theory of Everything” quadrupled almost instantly, and several other titles saw similar spikes. With help from Andy Baio, who has been collecting detailed piracy stats for the Oscar-nominees since 2003, we can also reveal how many of the films are already available along with some other interesting trends. What stands out immediately is how widely available the films are. Of all 2015 nominees, except documentary and foreign films, 34 of the 36 films (95%) are present on pirate sites.Only the animated feature film “Song of The Sea” and best original song nominee “Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me” have yet to appear online. The films that are available don’t all come in perfect quality of course. “Beyond the Lights,” for example, only leaked in a CAM (camcorded) version. Most, however, are available in relatively decent screener, DVDRip or comparable quality.Ironically enough, nearly all of the pirated screener copies appear to have been leaked from Academy sources.Oscar Screener Piracy 2003-2015 Published by Google Drive – – Updated automatically every 5 minutesSource
Paft
95% Of Oscar Contenders Leaked on Pirate Sites MOSTLY IN SHIT QUALITY.You'd think they'd receive better quality given that quality makes a huge difference in the experience.
Ryrynz
You can't tell people shit, let them have their 700MB downloads. I'll prefer high quality rips and the cinema for the big releases every time. Some people are clueless, personally don't care or are ignorant, you can't get through to them..I really wish they made legal quality easy to access downloads for literally a dollar or more, then personally I wouldn't care if they cracked down hard on all piracy..hell I doubt for most people it'd be worth the time.. The real problem they're clawing fighting against is wage inequality though. And for this reason personally I think the concept of money is flawed and becoming outdated.. It needs to be abolished once robotics is suitably developed which won't be too far in the future.95% Of Oscar Contenders Leaked on Pirate Sites MOSTLY IN SHIT QUALITY.You'd think they'd receive better quality given that quality makes a huge difference in the experience. steven36
You'd think they'd receive better quality given that quality makes a huge difference in the experience. You can't tell people shit, let them have their 700MB downloads. I'll prefer high quality rips and the cinema for the big releases every time. Some people are clueless, personally don't care or are ignorant, you can't get through to them..You people really miss the point.. this article dont have nothing to do with quality , most of the Oscars are still in the theaters have not even came out on DVD or Blu-ray yet so of course all of them are not the greatest of quality . This is about the fact they leaked already and you have and option to watch lower quality pre release if you want . Everything always comes out on Itunes , DvD and Blu-ray sooner or latter.. so ether you just have to wait are go watch it at the theaters if you want really great quality . Patience grass hopper . Whats not out yet can be released . Its always been a waiting game even way before there was such thing as the internet . Complaining about the quality never makes it leak faster. Quality comes when it comes. And what quality people watch is no one biswhacks but there own . If your a Videophile or if your not to each there own different strokes for different folks.
Paft
You miss our point....we know that, Captain Obvious. It's 2015 now...You would think that reviewers would want the judges to see the movies in their finest quality to better show some of the cinematography and other elements. They are always torrented anyway, why bother making them shit quality? If you have an award for best special effects shouldn't you be able to look at all the little details you are judging. Saying that, visual effects or not better quality heightens the viewing experience.
The Nude Dude
the point is you can bet the movie companies did the leaking, and are already seeing increased sales as a result. remember when piracy is up so are sales, when piracy is down so are sales. Paft
My answer to you is you should have gone to specsavers. I don't know whether it was the source or the leaker but for example American Sniper and Birdman are/were awful. Thankfully a better release for Birdman is out from CM8. American Sniper's audio was equal to cam audio.Notes:another DVDRip quality with 5.1 audio and Super quality, retailishand no friggin jerky-jitterOh and a big FU to d0g09usa stay in irc with the other children
