Sorry to have to tell you thats probably the most widely known hack....

Its particularly stupid if youre "wanting to get into the data" as the poster states, as youre effectively chancing corrupting that data by powering down the PC the incorrect way via the power button, to force the startup repair.

Its completely the wrong way to do it. Youre far better off accessing the windows installation offline via Hirens or even a Linux Live CD and changing the files offline....no possible data corruption

In other words do not follow this video.....this guy is a tool

I agree its not the best method but even when this has happened I have never lost data personally. Not to say you cant, you can but I have not experienced this yet. If you don't have access to other tools and this is the only way for now, it will work. I will add this...do at your own risk. :)

Bios isn't a big deal to get passed. In some cases you need to open computer or laptop and jumper to clear the special chip that holds the password. If your not scared to crack open the case and investigate, you can get passed it. Most techs are familiar with how to bypass the bios password and even win login passwords. All manufactures have a procedure for clearing it. Just do some research first.

This is a well known vulnerability. There was also the one for Windows 95 when you clicked the help button during the login, then print, and you could finagle it to run explorer.exe from the print prompt.
