AVG acquires Norman Safeground to expand cloud-based, cross-platform services to business customers and introduce new consumer offerings in region.

AMSTERDAM and SAN FRANCISCO – November, 6, 2014 – AVG Technologies N.V. (NYSE: AVG), the online security company™ for 188 million active users, today announced that it has acquired Norman Safeground, the Norway-based international IT security company. This acquisition will help expand AVG’s existing European footprint into the regions supported by Norman Safeground and provide customers with greater product choice and enhanced support services.

Norman Safeground has an established presence and strong customer base across western Europe with offices and users in regions that include DACH, Benelux and the Nordics, which are key growth markets for AVG. This acquisition will underpin and drive forward the rollout of new consumer Protection and Performance products, and business services including AVG CloudCare and AVG Managed Workplace to the marketplace over the next twelve months.

In addition, having a presence in these markets will enable AVG to provide better support to existing consumer and business customers, increase the AVG partner network across the region, and facilitate the implementation of AVG’s business product portfolio by getting the latest products to market quickly and efficiently.

I've used AVG as a kid back then. It was heavy, slow, and weak. Upon looking at it now, it's a lot lighter and a lot better overall based on my personal experiences and testing. Nowadays, you won't go wrong using AVG or Avast that is of course if you have safe practices.

I have been using AVG for about 6-7 years. I use Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D and I find that these three combined with careful, sensible practices (e.g. don't click suspicious download links, exe files etc) give me good protection. AVG does have a lot of "false positives" but that is my fault too if I'm downloading cracks or keygens. I found it easy to configure from the first time I used it, and although I have been tempted a few times to try Eset or Kaspersky, I've stuck with AVG all this time and wouldn't put anyone off using it. I also think they are improving the product and not sitting on their laurels. Hope this is helpful to you. :showoff: :showoff: :showoff:
