geeteam
According to a new report out of Forbes, Google will announce both the Nexus 9 tablet and Nexus 6 smartphone tomorrow. The report claims that Google had originally planned to hold an event for the devices, but decided it against it due to it wanting to continue to fine tweak Android “L” until the last-minute. Instead, both of the devices will be announced via a blog post. The report goes on to claim that the HTC-made Voalantis (Nexus 9) tablet will be announced tomorrow, available for pre-order on October 17th and released to everyone on November 3rd. It will, of course, ship with Android L, as well. The device will reportedly cost $399 for the 16GB WiFi only model and $499 for the 32GB LTE model. Both models will also have expandable memory, the source says.As far as specs, the Forbes report cooperates much of what has already been reported. The Volantis is said to feature an 8.9-inch 2048×1440 display and weigh 480 grams. It will be powered by a 64-bit dual-core processor and an NVIDIA Kepler GPU. Finally, it will pack an 8MP rear camera and 3MP front-facing shooter. In terms of design, Google has allegedly scrapped its original plans for an all-aluminum design in favor of a “brushed aluminum frame” to keep the cost down.In addition to announcing the tablet itself, Google will also announce an “origami magnetic stand-case” tomorrow, which as the name implies, can be bent into any shape to hold the tablet.Notably, a report from last month based on specifications leaked via GFXBench seemingly all but confirmed a variety of facts about the Nexus 6 device: 5.2-inch 1440p display, a 2.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter and Android L.All that is left now is for Google to confirm both of these Nexus devices tomorrow.Source
