There was something peculiar happening with the last stable update (32.0), an old trusted greasemonkey script stopped working. Had to install newer beta version. But back on the stable channel that script works now :)

Thanks for your reply SPECTRUM...I sent feedback to Mozilla, but meanwhile I uninstalled Firefox 32.0.1 and went back to version 31.0...and my passwords came back(!!??). It's strange indeed. I'm gonna wait for the next final Firefox and see what happens when I install it. But for now I'm just glad I have access to my favourite sites again. Thanks again for your suggestion. :)

Updating Firefox is in no way associated with the passwords, bookmarks, favorites, etc.. They are all saved to a different folder.

  • If you want to get help, tell me specifically what you did and how you did it.
  • Do you have them synchronized to somewhere, etc..
  • But maybe they just banned you?
  • Or use another, 3-rd party extension to save them? Then there is absolutely another story.

Kalju, thanks to you too for answering my post. I've been going over what I did and I think it could be a problem with an Add-On called "Rememeber Passwords 1.1" that I had installed a few months ago. Anyway here is exactly what I did:-

1) My system is XP (X86)...I hear you laughing!!

2) I had Firefox 32.0 installed.

3) I installed Firefox 32.0.1 over it.

4) During installation I selected "Custom installation"...but I didn't change anything, I just checked what options it had.

5) On first use I discovered my logins weren't saved...I checked Tools-Options-Security-Saved Passwords...all empty!!

6) I rebooted and checked again...still no logins/passwords.

7) I uninstalled Firefox 32.0.1 and installed Firefox 31.0. During installation I chose the standard installation instead of the custom option. I got a message saying that the add-on "Remember Passwords 1.1" wasn't compatible with Firefox 31.0 and it was disabled.

8) Now my logins are all back...I think maybe the mentioned add-on was conflicting with Firefox 32.0.1 (?). I don't think it's anything more serious than that. Tomorrow maybe I'll try a clean install of Firefox 32.0.1 and I'll make sure the add-on is disabled. It's the first time this has happened, and I've been using Firefox for years.

Thanks again for taking the time to consider my post...very much appreciated.

Your passwords are stored in two different files:

  • key3.db - This file stores your key database for your passwords. To transfer saved passwords, you must copy this file along with the following file.
  • signons.sqlite - Saved passwords.

Try backing up these 2 files and paste em back in your profile directory after the 32.0.1 update.

Hi everybody, nanoman, beasly, Kalju etc. Solved it!!! Just a few minutes ago I put on my computer and Firefox 31.0 updated to Firefox 32.0.1 automatically. I the tried to login to Yahoo..no login/password. So I went to Add-Ons and found a little red message above "Remember Passwords" saying that it wasn't compatible with Firefox 32.0.1...so I disabled the Add-On, restarted Firefox and everything is back to normal!!! Thanks to everyone who suggested possible solutions for my little problem.

@nanoman..I didn't want to use "a*s" in case it was a capital offence on our wonderful site!! lol Have a nice day guys, and thanks again. :showoff: :showoff: :showoff:

Most of the problems are caused by 3rd party addons as usual, yet the first thing people do is blame the actual browser.

in mozilla browsing is slow as compared to chrome

Only as slow as your computer is. Both browsers are fast, unless you bloat them with memory hogging addons.

Mozilla is a company and Firefox is their browser. So what does Mozilla have to do with your slow computer?

@Purple Trail, I have always used and will continue to use Firefox as my default browser, and in this instance the problem was caused by a third party add-on...you (I) live and learn!! lol :showoff: :showoff: :showoff:

The add-on has been reported broke since September 5th
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/remember-passwords/reviews/

not been updated since April 14, 2013 That was for Firefox 20.0.

About this Add-on
Please remove this add-on from your installed extensions!

I'll be removing it from AMO shortly – see the note about "Firefox 30+ / SeaMonkey 2.29+" compatibility below.

----

Overrides the original Login Manager component to allow saving of passwords on forms which otherwise suppress it. Basically patches the _isAutocompleteDisabled function to ignore autocomplete="off" attributes. Having it in an extension allows this customization to persist across application updates.

Firefox 30+ / SeaMonkey 2.29+

This extension should not be necessary with Firefox 30 (and SeaMonkey 2.29) and later, anymore:
