ARMOUR
Symantec, Kaspersky Security Products Blacklisted by Chinese GovernmentA Chinese government procurement agency has excluded Symantec and Kaspersky, two foreign security software developers, from a security software supplier list. All the five antivirus softwares in the list are from China, including Qihoo 360, Venustech, CAJinchen, Beijing Jiangmin and Rising.China's State Internet Information Office announced in May that it would start security vetting of major IT products and services for use by national security and public interests.China's homegrown technology companies also got the better of their foreign counterparts in the personal computer operating system supplier list, making Microsoft the only foreign brand. There is no indication whether the move has some connection with China's emphasis on the security of IT products and software after Edward Snowden's leaks about the intelligence gathering project PRISM from the National Security Agency of the United States.China's State Internet Information Office announced in May that it would start security vetting of major IT products and services for use by national security and public interests.Source:SoftpediaPeopledaily.com

steven36
Symantec is an American company. Kaspersky is a Russian company . China are afraid the Governments are putting backdoors in there software to spy on them.. What makes us think we can trust China with there's anymore than any other country . China are most likely are the ones doing it and that's why there so paranoid about it. Maybe is high time other countries start banning all the cheap crap that comes from China that took and are taking everyone's jobs . If everyone looked at it like China there would be plenty of jobs because we all would be self supporting again . Whats good for the goose is good for the gander is what I always heard. Boops
China’s procurement agency recently told government departments to stop buying antivirus software from Symantec Corp. (SYMC) and Kaspersky Lab over security concerns, people familiar with the matter said. The exclusion follows a notice from the Public Security Ministry in June that Symantec software had security vulnerabilities, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information hasn’t been made public. The procurement agency removed the companies’ antivirus programs from its list of approved software, which includes products offered by domestic companies including Qihoo 360 Technology (QIHU) Co. and Kingsoft Corp. (3888), the people said. China has increased scrutiny of foreign companies in the wake of Edward Snowden’s revelations of a National Security Agency spying program and the indictments of five Chinese military officers for allegedly stealing corporate secrets. Google Inc. and Apple Inc. (AAPL) have been criticized by state media for allegedly cooperating with U.S. spying while Microsoft Corp. was excluded from a government purchasing order. “Symantec does not put hidden functionality or back doors into any of its technologies -– not for the NSA or any other government entities,” the company said in an e-mailed statement. Kaspersky Lab is investigating and speaking with Chinese authorities on the matter, the company’s Moscow press office said in an e-mailed statement. It’s premature to go into more details at this time, according to the statement.Security LoopholesThe Public Security Ministry notice said Symantec’s Data Loss Prevention software contained high-risk security loopholes including backdoors that could allow outside access, said another person who also asked not to be identified because the order hasn’t been made public. Beijing Youth Daily reported Aug. 1 that Symantec and Kaspersky have been excluded by the government. Shares of Mountain View, California-based Symantec fell 2.1 percent the same day in New York, the biggest drop since March, to close at $23.17.China said in May it would vet technology companies operating in the country for potential national-security breaches after the government threatened retaliation for the U.S. indictment of the Chinese officers.Source Edited August 4, 2014 by Boops

You can't trust any, and it makes sense for a Government to use national apps.As a citizen however, it makes sense to use software OUTSIDE your country for personal use, as in I'd trust Russian KIS over US NIS, as a US citizen, because Symantec is known to whitelist FBI (so you can bank on NSA) malware.Foreign government has much less need/want/desire to snoop on Joe Schmoe from another country, who isn't deploying AV to a Business or Government.Especially though I'd encourage Chinese people to use KIS. China will surely use Chinese AV against their citizens just like US has backdoors in NIS, and US is more likely to spy on them than Russia.Well when China starts banning products from any country there breaking NAFTA so countries should put them out of free trade . why should you trade with countries that ban your products. Its OK for the Chinese to clone everything and sell it for a cheaper price but it its OK for them to ban anything they dont like . Many people were sent over there to tech them how to do everyone's jobs in other countries . They should be made to all those rich people come home over there and make in the countries the products came from to begin with. SnakeMasteR
NAFTA has zero to do with China or the rest of the world, Canada/Mexico/USA are bound to it and the only NAFTA-members, no one else breaks anything except those countries that agreed to it mentioned previously. They sent people over there to teach them our jobs .Were I live its so bad unless your nurse or DR or something you cant even find a job . If you go to collage you would have to move away from here to get a job .Canada's 31 year problem with China http://thetyee.ca/News/2012/10/19/Chinese-Trade-Deal/Once NAFTA was singed this opened the door for a treaty with China would extend similar rights to Chinese investors, including SOEs thus jobs all went over there. SnakeMasteR
....NAFTA only created a free trade zone with the US, Canada, and Mexico. As i said, has nothing to do with China or where the jobs went and they aren't bound to it in any way.
steven36
China has free trade agreements in like 9 countries now and pushing for more . Basically what it does is make the rich people more rich and very hard for the middle class and the poor to even find a job.You think they have nothing do with it they crashed NAFTA party even , China were the uninvited guest.According to western tradition, the gift for the 20th anniversary of a union is china. But, two decades on from the trade nuptials enshrined in the the North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta), China is the uninvited guest that has walked away with many of the gifts.Read herehttp://www.theguardian.com/global-development/poverty-matters/2014/jan/02/china-crashed-nafta-party-free-tradeYour going by what NAFTA was meant to be for not what really is happening because of it . China is even buying scrap from the plants that closed because of the jobs they sent over there . There building there plants from the same metal from the very plants they caused to close down. SnakeMasteR
You can't blame China for the stupidity of the countries that signed NAFTA and again, China has nothing to do with NAFTA, it isn't officially part of it. NAFTA has been crashed from the countries that signed it and it wasn't China.

We allow China to do this crap to our country, but then we go elsewhere to purposely put the screws to other nation's economies.China artificially diddles the value of their currency to gain a trade advantage anyway.Yes I seen that on a TV show China builds houses sky rises and such with lots of places to live. but if you go there its nothing but a ghost town .. They try to make look like there doing good but in reality most people in china cant even afford to live in such places on there low wages. steven36
Yes history is just repeating its self all over I look for the day the dollar to be worthless like back in the depression . And every man will be at the same level unless he invested it in gold or something . If the dollar goes worthless most of the rich people will lose everything they have and the USA will be in the same boat as China. What are the Rich of the USA thinking to begin with if they make everything somewhere else . Sooner or latter no one will buy nothing because no one has money because there's no jobs. So they will have no choice but to bring jobs back. same goes for other countries that trade with china as well. When ever they have to bring jobs back that's when China will want go to war. But sooner or latter it will happen because they will be no money left.
