Kind of interesting stuff...

The latest installers for the Full version of MediaCoder (version 0.7.0.4398/4399) gave a Win32/Adware.Agent.NMA application when scanned with Eset NOD32.

Extracting the v0.7.0.4399 installer with UniExtract. VirusTotal gave this result (20/40 (50.00%))for the rkinstall.exe located here (\MediaCoder-0.7.0.4399\$TEMP\$TEMP\rkinstall.exe)

Report form VirusTotal:

http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/cde3bd7...8bab4583338a5e7

I reported this in the official MediaCoder Forum.

The initial response from stanley (Site Admin / Author) was:

It will not be installed by default.

Later to day he posted:

stanley » Sun May 24, 2009 1:13 am

The 4399 installer is repackaged and uploaded.

The installer downloaded from Sourcefourge now does not contain rkinstall.exe

Thanks to 12312 for making me aware of the Adware alert in the first place

Heh, I guess their test didn't work. I wonder how much they made on that one day. :)

That's where this came from. The S.O.G. I did a SUPERantispyware scan two weeks ago I think and it picked this up.

People are saying Kaspersky is good, I see it failed here....

Cheers :w00t:

Talk about trolling. :P

I'm actually staying pretty open minded about the new Kaspersky 2010 version. Will test it once it has hit RTM.
