geeteam
Google’s desktop Web browser has inched past Firefox in market share calculated for June 2014 by Net Applications. Chrome went from 17.7% in May to 19.3% last month. That said, Internet Explorer still reigns supreme according to this particular data set, hovering above its competitors with a whopping 58.3% market share in June. Chrome was up to 17.1% in June 2013, after which point it lost some market share, only to get it back and actually start making advances again this May. On the other hand, over the past year Firefox has pretty consistently managed to lose market share one month after another. If you want to look at specific browser versions, leading the pack in June 2014 is IE8, with 21.2% of all traffic, followed by IE11 with 17%, and Chrome 35 with 12.5%. All of this information should be put into context, though. That’s because another company that tracks these things, namely StatCounter, has had Chrome as the No.1 browser (yes, even above IE) for quite a while now. The huge differences in reported market share numbers are down to each individual tracker’s methods of determining Web traffic data. Net Applications, for example (which is the source of today’s information), counts unique visitors (to websites) per day, and not pageviews. It’s also got a stronger presence in some countries compared to its competitors. Source

banned
Firefox might do better if they stopped forcing users to install third-party add-ons after an update to bring back previous functionality...

dcs18
Firefox might do better if they stopped forcing users to install third-party add-ons after an update to bring back previous functionality...Firefox does not force its Users to install 3rd party add-ons - unless they are Pushovers. :think:Moral:--One can always choose to stick with pre-Australis. Karlston
Mozilla (an organisation that makes a browser named Firefox) still graciously consents to permit installation of the add-on Classic Theme Restorer (AKA Undo-Forced-Australis-Crap or Restore-Removed-Features).The only caveats (as stated by its author) are that it MAY not be compatible with themes other than the default, and may break versions earlier than 29.I used it to restore tabs-on-the-bottom, an option removed by Mozilla in Firefox 29, and a few other small tweaks to put Firefox back the way *I* prefer it.350,000+ users so far, who in their own small way raise their middle fingers to Mozilla to show them what they think of Australis. :)

mjall
i don't like chrome because it forces you to install third party software which I don't like, it's more like a spam browser; i don't mind slower browsers rather than a company like chrome very wickedly install the worst software with it
TheRuan
I left Firefox behind when i gave up on waiting for multi-thread/core support.I use too many tabs opened at the same time, i can't have firefox loaded without seeing my proc hurting, won't even comment about ram usage. In firefox if u load more than 15 tabs it will start running slow and may crash, i do 40 tabs on chrome sometimes, and it rarely crashes. In my opinion many people gave up on firefox mainly because of this, some people may not even know why it's slower than chrome. But I need to point that many of the people that migrated to chrome would be very happy to go back to firefox if they fix this. It would prevent all out crashing, if one page crashes. (It may depend on the quality of the video card as well).Firefox is still good, because of its great plugins, but occasional crashes (50+ pages open for a long time) are a reason I like to keep an eye on Opera. And (Lo and behold!) new Opera finally seems to make progress!Chrome users may have forgotten that they have agreed to terms for the initial setup. In fact, Google is as free to map their PC as they do with the planet. The market share of IE would, quality wise, be incomprehensible to me, if some sites would not only work with IExplorer. In such case of a bank, people will have to use the browser. Edited July 11, 2014 by Fallon
