You don't need a laptop with ESET installed for the tutorial - just use copy-paste and concatenate those posts (you don't have to re-write anything new.)

will screenshots remain same or there is anything new in GUI ?

Use the same V7 screenshots - they are similar not identical to the ones on the V8.

In due course of time, I shall provide all necessary V8 screenshots, once you are done with your part.

The entire exercise is in using a guide which can be improvised, in anticipation to steps expected to be taken, by ESET (even before they are taken) - have some more good news, on this part. :secret:

Prevent ESET NOD32 AV FROM DIALING HOME - Refined Guide

What's New : Added Precautionary Note to avoid de-activation, scroll down for details.

Rules To Be Created

Program path for both the Allow Rule And Block Rule is the same i.e. "C:\program files\eset\eset nod32 antivirus\x86\ekrn.exe"*

Allow Rule :

G7810MP.png

Block Rule : IPs to be blocked (91.228.165.81,91.228.167.125)

zjDRfig.png

*Maybe different if you are using NOD32_x32, plz do report

Screenshots provided by dcs18 :notworthy:

Instructions For First Time Installers

  • Proceed with the installation of Eset NOD32 and once you reach the activation wizard, create both the allow and block rule as shown above. But at this time only enable the allow rule i.e. the block rule should be disabled at the moment because we want to activate our product. Now, choose activate trial license**.

image.png

  • Next fill up an email address, you can even use fakemail like I have done, chose your country and click activate

image.png

  • Your trial will now be activated.

image.png

  • Eset will now perform virus definition update, let it do so.If it doesn't manually do so (mandatory).

image.png

  • After the update has finished your activation would show as below, you can now enable the block rule that you earlier created.

image.png

  • Restart your system. After first restart you will see the following as your activation info :

If Neither You Nor Eset Checked For Updates

image.png

Now Just check for Virus Definitions, So Your Screen Will Look LIke This

image.png

  • Don't worry, just do a second restart. That's it, your product is now fully activated as illustrated below :

image.png

image.png

**Instead of the trial license one can even use the retail username/password.

However, it may take 3 restarts in case of retail username/password combo.

A manual virus definition update check is recommended after each restart.

Instructions For Already existing Users

  • Your Activation screen ATM will be showing the date on which your license will expire

image.png

  • Just create the rules and enable them both (allow rule as well as block rule) as shown above.
  • Restart your system and check for updates (must)

image.png

  • Your system should be activated as soon as the updates complete, a restart may be required.

image.png

Precautionary Note

When one starts the system, ESET makes an update call even before the firewall component is able to startup with Windows - that is the crucial stage when an already registered and working ESET activation is rendered useless.

To prevent this from happening, Open your ESET AV Window, go to TOOLS tab, then select SCHEDULER and disable these two options by unchecking them :

1)Automatic Update after dial-up connection.

2)Automatic Update after user logon.

See this illustration for more clarity :

deBhgSi.png

If anyone wants to do a fresh, clean install, (s)he can use the uninstall utility provided by ESET. More info can be seen here

As with other products, IPs can be changed anytime by Eset so a vigilant and active participation from all the users of this fix will be required :)

R u trying to use ip block method on Kaspersky??

If yes then it's useless bcz the Kaspersky firewall is kinda buggy that will partially allow application to bypass it

So 1-3 days span it will surely dial home

even extended it to nov next yr and it was still working :D

gonna do a clean install now. as this one is now corrupted.

why clean install is necessary bcoz ur computer has already downloaded the blacklist updates, hence it wud not work if u try to run it over.

also dont use any other update source then the default (this is what caught me today, changed update servers, if u wanna change source tell me i will update the IP list but that will mean more IPs)

program path : C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Internet Security 15.0.1\avp.exe

218.213.94.62

195.122.169.0 - 195.122.169.63

but since KIS can't handle IP range, u will have to do it manually or copy paste from below :

218.213.94.62,195.122.169.0,195.122.169.1,195.122.169.2,195.122.169.3,195.122.169.4,195.122.169.5,195.122.169.6,195.122.169.7,195.122.169.8,195.122.169.9,195.122.169.10,195.122.169.11,195.122.169.12,195.122.169.13,195.122.169.14,195.122.169.15,195.122.169.16,195.122.169.17,195.122.169.18,195.122.169.19,195.122.169.20,195.122.169.21,195.122.169.22,195.122.169.23,195.122.169.24,195.122.169.25,195.122.169.26,195.122.169.27,195.122.169.28,195.122.169.29,195.122.169.30,195.122.169.31,195.122.169.32,195.122.169.33,195.122.169.34,195.122.169.35,195.122.169.36,195.122.169.37,195.122.169.38,195.122.169.39,195.122.169.40,195.122.169.41,195.122.169.42,195.122.169.43,195.122.169.44,195.122.169.45,195.122.169.46,195.122.169.47,195.122.169.48,195.122.169.49,195.122.169.50,195.122.169.51,195.122.169.52,195.122.169.53,195.122.169.54,195.122.169.55,195.122.169.56,195.122.169.57,195.122.169.58,195.122.169.59,195.122.169.60,195.122.169.61,195.122.169.62,195.122.169.63

As a precaution u can block it via app as well as throughout your PC for completely blocking it

tell me if you need any other info.

I'm still trying figure out how blocking ips would work with kaspersky ? If it did it would mean any one that had version 2014 or lower could just activate it as trial and block whole program with a firewall and your key would never expire by installing offline update or using in a computer without internet . I don't foresee it working for a company that has there own offline updater for years .

But you take ESET it can be rigged by applying a registry patch and using Unofficial ESET Offline updater . But Kaspersky has there own Offline updater . It seems that if blocking internet had anything to do with it they would of never made and offline updater. I'm always skeptic about programs that don't have lifetime keys not expiring. There's many programs that don't require internet all and after it expires ether you have to buy it or crack it .

ESET I can see it maybe working but for but Kaspersky I don't , the Russians have been trying to crack it for years and the best they have ATM is trial reset . They succeeded a few times at cracking it but on the next build update it stopped working . Don't you think if blocking it with a firewall would worked the Russians would done figured it out along time ago?

See if u want ur trial status back we can use a trial reset

But

Here the main aim is to run a blacklisted 1095days wvu promo key for 3 yrs without getting it blocked

Kaspersky verifies keys at every update u do...but if u block those ips

Then u might have a chance to skip license verification so..that it will be activated

U cannot decrease or increase the count of activation and remaining days

As Kaspersky designed it that way

Soo ya eset is much easier to fool
