anuseems
HTTP/2, Web Audio, Media Capture, and moreFrom ArsTechnica:Among the features in development are the Media Capture API, that lets Web content manipulate audio and video streams from microphones and webcams, the HTTP/2 protocol, currently being developed by IETF, and Web Audio, an API that lets JavaScript process and synthesize audio. The company also plans to implement a JavaScript feature called Promises that should streamline development of asynchronous scripts. These features and others are listed on the newly updated status.modern.ie site, on which Microsoft lists a whole bunch of up-and-coming Web standards and its attitude towards them. Many have already been implemented; a handful, such as WebP image support and the WebRTC communications API, are "not currently planned." Still more are vaguely "under consideration."http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/05/microsoft-lays-out-the-future-of-internet-explorer/ Edited May 29, 2014 by anuseems
stylemessiah
Hmmm, yeah, Microsoft's IE vision has always been about web standards.....in fact mentioning IE and web standards in the same sentence in most forums will get you a death sentence :)Then theres the fact that IE, due to having its hooks deep into the underlying OS, exposes the underlying OS to security threats, time and time and time again. IE should be taken out into the back paddock and shot repeatedly in the head, and built again from the ground up with its OS tentacles cut off.Example: why in this day and age isnt the "Delete Temporary Files On Exit" setting not ON by default in IE. This alone should tell you that theyre not fricking serious about security. What would you rather have, a temporary file cache to speed up page load times (irrelevant for most folks these days with ADSL etc anyways), or security and less chance of malware? You couldnt pay me to use IE, i wouldnt even take a blank cheque from Unky Bill himself Edited May 31, 2014 by stylemessiah

dcs18
Microsoft Internet Explorer is just a small drop in the ocean - another one of those numerous other native Microsoft components & modules that I disable completely as a matter of principle. <_<

And about web standards, Microsoft is adding support to many open web standards and it is almost catching up, you should take a look at Modern-ie too:https://www.sitepoint.com/testing-internet-explorer-modern-ie/

MidnightDistortions
Internet Explorer is ok for backup or testing web pages that are not acting quite right with Google or Firefox. I keep it installed for a last resort browser sort of thing. I prefer Chrome as i can access most of my settings/preferences from any PC.

What are you talking about? I didn't understand your post ...How does one test a browser's security? The most easiest and transparent way (for everyone else to judge) is by matching screenshots of 2 or more different browsers - a browser that cannot stop advertisements and unnecessary items from displaying can certainly not prevent hijacking, malware & other vulnerabilities. ;)
