Go to your HOSTS file.

C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\ETC\ (more or less)

! It's hidden !

Edit this file called "hosts" without extension with a text editor, erase all the content, then paste this

# Copyright © 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

and save it as "hosts", without the " and no extension!

Or

get back to a previous restore point, before the hostman(ager) was installed.

My 2 pence.

Hi Don,

Do you use KIS or a firewall with Hostsman ? If yes, you must take a look at there logs.

Also important your DNS Service must be set to disabled.

Please help

Hostsman does not and will not block general internet access, now idiots can block their internet access, try and remove the idiot from the equation...Your problems aren't ever software related.

Not true that Man, exactly not Hostsman alone but if you have a firewall configured with a Name domain(example.com) blocked and Hostsman you can have trouble cause if the firewall use the loopback.I know why i say that, :) cause i have faced with the same issue with Comodo+Hostsman (the real trouble is not in true Hostsman himself but the fact that you use the Hosts file) .

That's true that just restore hosts and reset firewall must solve the problem if is related to the hostsman install.

I've used hostsman and comodo firewall with loopback selected and had no problems....Surely it just protects the local host..ie 127.0.0.0?

Nope, the problem appear only if you ad a Domain Name blocked into Comodo, for example you ad " search.com " in the blocked range in Comodo.

And the loopback must be set to :

127.0.0.1 localhost

or

0.0.0.0 localhost

So you're saying if I install hostmans right now,( I have comodo firewall only installed with loopback selected) and say use MVPS hostsfiles I'll lose internet connection as don2 has, am I right?

No i say the problem appear ONLY if you add a Domain Name blocked into Comodo, for example you add " search.com " in the blocked network range in Comodo.

And honestly i try to repeat this confict right now in a VMware with Comodo 7 and Hostsman and no problem appear,
