EVERYTHING ABOUT NERO 2014 (VERSION 15.0.0770 OR ANY PREVIOUS AND STANDALONE APPLICATIONS)

I am updating this post, because some still find problems in installing Nero 2014 or any of your standalone applications. Note that Nero 2014 can be installed with the internet connected and in different directories, ´Nero Update´ can and even should be installed, etc. In other words, it is easy to install Nero 2014, although time consuming. The implementation of the ´Patch´ is almost instantaneous. However, after that, Nero 2014 or the ´Patch´ may not work. The reason is the same previously mentioned: ´CONFLICTS WITH AN OLD VERSION, POORLY UNINSTALLED´. That is why I am passing this ´new´ Patch. Has changed the file ´Readme.txt´ which accompanies it. In it, I am doing some small fixes and putting in a more objective manner the subject of installation/uninstallation of Nero 2014, to end the matter. The same text is below. The correct link to the ´new´ Patch is at the bottom of this post and in the initial post.

A) DOWNLOAD NERO 2014, CONTENT PACKS AND ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS (ONLY OFFICIAL LINKS) (NEW)

1. MAIN PACKAGE (Nero Burning ROM, Nero Express, Nero MediaHome, Nero MediaBrowser, Nero Video, Nero Recode, Nero RescueAgent, Nero Disc To Device + Nero Blu-ray Player + Nero ControlCenter + Nero Launcher):

B) INSTALLATION OF NERO 2014

1. If you have installed a previous version of Nero 2014, run the "Patch" first. If this fails, uninstall the fully installed version (see better in the comments below).
2. Install Nero 2014 Trial with the serial provided by Nero itself. In the installation options select the applications you want to install. "Nero Update" should preferably be installed.
3. Once installed, run the "Patch". Nero 2014 Trial turns into Nero 2014 Platinum. AVCHD authoring and playback as well as MPEG-4 and BD-AV formats are now supported.
4. Install, if you like, the content packs and additional applications. Choose the custom installation and uncheck unwanted content. After, run the "Patch" again.
5. If, in the future, install new applications (either directly or with "Nero ControlCenter") or make updates with "Nero Update", run the "Patch" again.

C) IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THE INSTALLATION/UNINSTALL OF NERO 2014 (NEW)

1. INSTALLED VERSIONS THAT ARE FUNCTIONAL
- Is it possible to recover old installations of Nero 2014. Run before the "Patch" to test. For Nero 2014 might be considered functional, all applications should open, can't have problems with serial, "Nero ControlCenter" need to be working and internet access should be free. In addition, "Nero Update" should be preferably working. If it works and "Nero Update" is operational, you do not need to remove your current installation to install a new one. An older version can be update to last with "Nero Update". If you want, install a new version, directly over the current one. Works for versions that are not corrupted.

2. INSTALLED VERSIONS THAT ARE CORRUPTED
- If even after using the "Patch" your current version of Nero 2014 does not work or the own "Patch" doesn't work is because it has more problems. Note that if your installation is corrupted it will not work with another patch that exists, or any that may be released. In this case, completely remove the installed version. To do this follow the steps below:
1) Uninstall all Nero's applications through the Windows Control Panel. You can use "Total Uninstall" or "Revo Uninstaller", but it makes no difference, because remains can be left anyway.
2) NOW COMES THE IMPORTANT PART: go to "C:\Windows\Installer\" to find the installers of Nero left over. Use the "Subject" column to organize and find the Nero's MSI files. If the column is not visible, right-click on the top bar and select it. Then uninstall each of the remaining applications of Nero: "Nero Core Componets", "Nero ControlCenter", "Nero Update" and others. Right-click on the files, and then click "Uninstall".
3) Delete the folders below, if they yet exist:
- "C:\Program Files\Nero" (32-bit) or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero" (64-bit);
- "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero" (32-bit) or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Nero" (64-bit);
- "C:\ProgramData\Nero"
4) Delete the entries in the Windows registry:
- "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nero";
- "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nero" (32-bit) or "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Nero" (64-bit)
- After that still remain Nero's files on your computer and entries scattered in the Windows registry. However the new installations will work. Old versions, poorly uninstalled, cause problems for future versions. The biggest problem is not the installation of Nero 2014 or the execution of the "Patch", but remove completely an old version. Nero does not provide at his website, an updated remover, for the 2014 version.

3. ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS
- Additional applications can be installed from "Nero ControlCenter" or directly from your installer. Install them preferably after you have installed the main package.
- These applications can be installed independently even if the main package is not installed. For the following applications: "Nero BackItUp", "Nero CoverDesigner", "Nero SoundTrax", "Nero WaveEditor" e "Nero BurnRights", if one or more will be installed alone (without the presence of the main package) they will only be installed correctly and therefore will only work properly if there are no conflicts with some old installation, poorly uninstalled. Once installed, apply the "Patch".
- Older applications such as: "Nero DiscSpeed", "Nero InfoTool", "Nero DiscCopy Gadget", "InCDReader" and "Nero SecurDisc Viewer", if installed alone, don't need any patch to work and do not install "Nero ControlCenter".
- Eventually, "Nero ControlCenter", may not work to download a specific additional application. That is no problem because can be downloaded directly from the links above or from Nero's website (http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads/). However, after installing the application, you can use "Nero Update" to update if a new version comes out. The same goes for the own Nero 2014.

4. STANDALONE APPLICATIONS
- You can independently install "Nero MediaHome", "Nero Video" and "Nero Burning Rom". Note that the installers of "Nero MediaHome" and "Nero Video" are very big and end up installing additional applications ("Nero Blu-ray Player", minimum package of content, etc). Therefore, it is best to install them directly from the main package, because it won't make much difference. If you are only interested on "Nero Burning Rom", which is more used, there are other versions "modified and simplified" available on the internet.
- You will only be able to install some of these applications correctly if there are no conflicts with some old installation, poorly uninstalled. Once installed, apply the "Patch".

5. OLD VERSIONS
- Do not install Nero 2014 Max (15.0.01000) or Nero 2014 Platinum (15.0.02200), that are outdated or have limitations (Max version). However, if you really want, use in the installation, any valid serial as: 9040-0198-Z5EU-U5M9-5422-WC24-0EEW-L46M. Will work with the "Patch".
- Do not install Trial versions prior to 15.0.07700, which are outdated. However, if you really want, install with the serial provided by installer itself. Will work with the "Patch".
- Always install the latest Trial version. Link above or directly from the Nero's website (http://www.nero.com/eng/products/nero-platinum/[email protected]).

6. OTHER OBSERVATIONS
- The internet can stay connected during installation, if you want. After applying the "Patch", Nero 2014 will work. Once installed, it is not necessary to block any application with the firewall.
- The main package and additional applications of Nero 2014 can be installed, each in a separate directory, including outside the C: drive. Will work with the "Patch". However, if it is all the same to you, install in the recommended path: "C:\Program Files\Nero" for 32-bit systems and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Nero" for 64-bit systems. "Nero Blu-ray Player may not work correctly if certain applications are installed in other directories (bug of Nero?).
- Successive installations and updates can sometimes corrupt old shortcuts of Nero applications, if they are placed in a non-standard folder. In this case pops up the message: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed". Just copy the new shortcut created by Nero, to the folder of your choice or use the shortcuts that comes with the "Patch".
- In some cases, sometimes strangers, Nero requires the computer to be restarted to continue an installation or function properly (even with UAC disabled).
- If something does not work, run the "Patch" again. It can be executed before, during (if Nero prompt to restart the computer) or after the installation. Save the "Patch" and create a shortcut to it in the Nero folder. For future use. If even after using the "Patch", does not work, it's probably because of some previous installation, poorly uninstalled.

D) TIPS FOR NERO 2014 (NONE IS MANDATORY)

1. If you want, the Services of "Nero Update" and "Nero BackItUp" (if it is installed), can be placed in "Manual".
2. If you install and do not use much "Nero BackItUp", disable "NBAgent" that always loads when the computer is turned on (use Autoruns).
3. If you want, disable "neroinfo.exe" and "nbagent.exe" in Scheduled Tasks (use Autoruns).
4. If you want, disable the context menu in "Windows Explorer" from "Nero Burning Rom" by going to Options > Advanced Options or go to the Registry and delete:
- "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{F764812A-132C-4013-9960-5CBBEB408A0E}",
- "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{F764812A-132C-4013-9960-5CBBEB408A0E}" and
- "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\{F764812A-132C-4013-9960-5CBBEB408A0E}"
5. To disable the context menu in "Windows Explorer" from "Nero BackItUp" (if installed), go to the Registry and delete:
- "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandlers\{AEFAA817-A41E-4807-9E6A-DEF58F410B52}" and
- "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\ShellEx\DragDropHandlers\NBShellHook.15.0"
6. To disable the context menu in "Windows Explorer" from "Nero Disc To Device" (if installed), go to the Registry and delete:
- "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\Disc2Device" and
- "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Drive\shell\Disc2Device"
7. To delete "Nero BurningRights" from Control Panel (Windows XP, Vista and 7) go to the Registry and delete:
- 32-bit - "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\{2D6560EA-FB28-4C5B-AA1C-05152EFB3BE1}" or
- 64-bit - "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\{2D6560EA-FB28-4C5B-AA1C-05152EFB3BE1}"

E) ABOUT THE "PATCH"

1. Good for any version of Nero 2014 (Max, Platinum or Trial) and compatible applications (additional and standalone).
2. Works on all versions of Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1) in 32 and 64-bit.
3. After applied, the Trial version works like Nero Platinum 2014.
4. Works even if the main package and additional applications are installed each in different directory than recommended.
5. Can recover old versions of Nero 2014. If an installed version is not corrupted, uninstall is not required to install a new.
6. Inserts all necessary serials for the main package and additional applications.
7. Has a fix that solves the problem of Trial versions and replaces all files, which make access to the server, with functional versions.
8. Allows you to make updates with "Nero Update" and directly download other applications with "Nero ControlCenter".
9. Tested on Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit) and Windows 8.1 (64-bit). However, it is compatible with Windows XP and Vista. The "Patch" was tested with Nero 2014 Max (15.0.01000), Nero Platinum 2014 (15.0.02200) and standalone applications. Also, making the installation of the Trial version 15.0.07700 directly over the version 15.0.02500. Was tested installing in different directories and with connected internet. Tested authoring and playback of AVCHD and BD-AV formats, functions theoretically available only in Platinum versions.
10. The "Patch" has no virus, malware or false positive. It does not access the internet. Works even without administrative rights (UAC enabled). This "Patch" was based on the version of "Kindly/RBC" and only works for "Nero 2014" and compatible applications (additional and standalone).

I just have a problem with the last version update "v6" which is stopped by Bitdefender, also virustotal gives 11/54 ratio detection (mostly as Gen:Variant.Symmi.43616)

is it a false positive or better to stay on previous release?

Hello @Luis_98000. Only today I saw your question because you don't made directly to me. How it is a very old topic, I not followed anymore. But thank you for your question. Hadn't seen that 6 and 7 versions had false positives. Only the first 3 versions I submitted to Virustotal. As no presented problems I did not do that anymore. In addition I use ESET. It automatically detects files with virus or threats. Additionally I use anti-malware and anti-spyware applications. No version presented problems. In versions 6 and 7, I added the version informations that you can view in the file properties in Windows Explorer. This informations can be interpreted as falses by some antivirus, which makes the file suspicious. So I just did a new version without this informations and so it went back to being a clean file again:
