"It's time to ensure even more fans around the world can enjoy Xbox One."

The Xbox One will finally become available in Belgium, Japan, India and 23 other regions in September 2014, Microsoft has announced. Better late than never...

The console was originally slated to launch in 21 markets last November, but Microsoft cut its roll-out down to just 13 markets, including the UK, USA and Australia. Studios boss Phil Spencer observed this January that "there were things around the voice models and other things we needed to make sure were right in order to really build a box that felt native to the markets we were shipping in.

"It never feels good to stand on stage and talk about 21 markets and ship in 13," he added. "But it's a journey, and it's not won or lost the day after launch. It will be something that plays out, so making sure the quality of each market when we ship is the important part."

The September roll-out obviously confirms our predictions that Microsoft would wait till the holiday season - i.e. when consumer demand is at peak - before launching in other markets; it's possible that the manufacturer can achieve the required volume in advance of that date. "We'll have much more to share at a local level towards the end of April, so stay tuned," notes a News Wire post. Here's the full list of new territories:
