What's with the corrupt videos in Limewire Pro?

I like to use Limwire as much as possible for audio and video downloading (anything too large I use Bit Torrent for) but recently trying to get videos on LW has been unbearable.

I guess this is some exploit someone made or whatever, but when you go to search for a video, say, a tv show, you get a couple genuine results but then about 100 results which have long pornographic filenames with the keywoords you searched for in parenthesis at the end.

For example, when I wanted to download "The Maxx"...you know, that awesome cartoon based on the comic which was on MTV like 10 years ago...I got a few good results and then a million phony results with long explicit filenames with (The Maxx) at the end.

Did some jerk create a program or something that automatically generates these files and incorporated them into LW's search function? Or whatever?

Back when I didn't realize this problem existed, whenever I played one of those phony files, it would claim it needed a license and would try to connect to some cheesy porn site.

Has LW always been like this? Do other versions clear this up??? Are there people who are intentionally sharing these crap files?

you can filter by keywords or host IPs in "options>filters"

Do other versions clear this up???

not untill spammers quit spamming gnutella with fake search results

Are there people who are intentionally sharing these crap files?

You guessed it

EDIT: oh and you better run a virus scan, those cheesey porn sites install spyware and viruses on PCs especally if you use internet explorer as your browser

Hey Vargas...

Thanks for the reply, and luckily I have no virii due to Norton Corporate Antivirus and Firefox.

K-Lite doesn't have that problem, but it certainly has worse functionality compared to Limewire in my opinion.

LimeWire is nortorious for it's corrupt and fake files, it's probably the only network with more fake/corrupt files than genuine.

It's quite hard to see if it's a corrupt, because for example, the file could be a video and be the right size, right compression etc but when it comes to viewing it might not work.

The best idea is to download the small'ish versions of files, these tend to be the "Re-Packs" that everyone changes around every so often.
