Nokia announced its first Android-app running smartphones - the Nokia X and Nokia X+. The phones pack a 4" LCD display and come with Nokia and Microsoft app preloaded.

The Nokia X, X+ and XL are powered by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8225 chipset with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Happily, it's expandable via the microSD card slot and supports up to 32GB cards.

The Nokia X and X+ feature a 4" 800x480 IPS LCD capacitive touch display making up for a pixel density of 233ppi. However, the Nokia X+ and XL get a bump in RAM to 768MB.

At the back of the Nokia X and X+, there's a 3MP fixed focus camera with both phones weighing 129 grams and pack 1500mAh battery. It's good for 10.5 hours of 3G talk time and have a maximum standby time of 17 days. Both phones are also capable of maximum music playback of up to 26 hours, while video playback is rated at 8.4 hours before the battery needs a recharge.

The Nokia X features the signature Nokia Glance Screen. A swipe to the right reveals a list of installed apps, and another one gets you to fastlane. You can reorganize the tiles similarly to Windows Phone 8 UI. They are resizable as well and the larger the tiles get, the more information they display.

Unsurprisingly, the phone doesn't have the Google Play Services installed, so the Play Store isn't available on the Nokia X or Nokia X+. However, Stephen Elop highlighted that users can take advantage of the Nokia store for Android apps as well as the popular Yandex Store.

Hi Nokia. This is a former admirer speaking. Your knight in shinning white armor, Microsoft's Trojan Horse Steve Ellop really sold you down the river on this Windows phone thing back in the day and what's worse, you let him!

You effed up big time banking on Windows Phone back in 2011. I will never forget the moment I heard the report on TV and I think my heart died a little that day.

Now, you could have admitted it already and moved on when you realized that it wasn't working. It was never supposed to work anyways. You could have jumped in with both your feet and build REAL Android phones with all the bells and whistles. But instead, you allowed yourself to be sold off to Nokia for spare change and then, bewilderingly chose this apologetic unholy crossbred thingamajig that you have just crapped out. :mad2:

You could've given us a flagship 41MP, 5" full HD phone with the Snapdragon 805 running pure/lightly skinned Kit Kat, that we all would have worshiped. You know, the one that would have put Samsung out of business? :dunno:

You could have given us a Moto G killer with a 4.5" HD screen, Snapdragon 400, and the Lumia 520 cam for under $200. You could have ported REAL Android to the Lumia Icon, 520 or even launched this one with pure Droid for the same price as an entry level device, seeing as technically, it's running Droid anyways. But no. You had to go and cr@p all over Android :mad2:

Side-loading apps is not an issue, but not having proper, full fledged Android is. I might even have lived with that fugly UI, had it been just a skin like buzzfeed. But this is a Frankenstein that doesn't really have a right to call itself an Android phone.

To come out with this is like trying to reinvent the wheel. Android doesn't need reinventing or forking. It's like you already have toilet paper on the shelf next to you and yet, you insist on making your own out of pine cones and broken glass. WTF Nokia! WHAT. THE. F***! :mad2:

For the love of god STOP IT. Go Android. Make an Awesome Phone and reclaim your place at the top. Oh yeah, I forgot. You can't! 'Cuz you got your @$$ tied to MS now! You really dropped the ball on this one, guys. Sad to see you go, but it's over for you Finns. RIP Nokia. Will always remember you fondly. -_-

Don't know what kinda consideration the manufacturing team made before make this device, such a lower end specs. Wondering the kinda people who will go for it, seeing a higher specs with affordable pricing. Maybe their target market will also play a major role. As our people in India and Africa will love crap from Nokia the same way Apple fanboys will love any crap from Apple. Anyway thanks for sharing...

Available in the coming weeks for 89, 99 and 109, respectively.

From Hexus:

We have seen so many leaks concerning the upcoming Nokia X handsets in the previous weeks that it was really nice to have the facts about this range of customised Android OS mobiles pop into the HEXUS inbox this morning. These are the Nokia Android handsets we have seen glimpses of and they do look daringly different, sporting a heavily customised Android UI. However you won't be using the Google Play Store with these mobiles straight out of the box, your apps will come from the Nokia App Store.
