Reefa
Consumers worldwide that have been waiting for smell notifications from their iPhone and iPad need wait no longer. Scentee, the gadget that emits aromas, began offering direct sales from their website for English versions of the scent puffing attachment outside of Japan for the first time. The Scentee is a balloon shaped gadget that plugs into the headphone jack of a device, and uses a third-party application to trigger smell notifications, release aromas on timed intervals, trigger with a device's alarm clock or merely be triggered on demand by the user. The technology was originally developed by the parent company, Chat Perf, with perfume cartridges in mind for Apple 30-pin devices. Using ultrasonic vibrations, the device produces scents from the cartridge which is mix of scent, purified water and surfactant.Scentee began offering sales for the "starter kit English edition" via their website today for the price of $35. However, sales listings of the product date back to September 2013 according to Amazon.com.jp. According to the company's website, the device is bundled with one cartridge, a manual, a micro USB charging cable, EVA and a mount. Currently only a handful of scents are available on the website; coffee, lavender, rose, rosemary and strawberry. Each cartridge is priced at $5 and is good for around 100 sprays. The Scentee application has been on the iTunes store since November 25, 2013, but thus far has been unavailable to markets outside of Japan for widespread use. Another application, one of around 20 that Scentee will be involved with over the next two years according to their FAQs, launched on January 23 named HanaYakiniku. This application focuses on the Japanese dish of yakiniku, or barbequed pieces of meat, to offer users smells of short ribs, salty beef tongue or buttered potato. However, these scents are not currently available via the Scentee website. Scentee works with iPhone 4S to 5S and iPad 2, 3 and Mini using iOS 7.0.3 or later. Currently the only stated Android support is with the Samsung Galaxy SC-04E, which is available only in Japan. Source
