Reefa
Microsoft is expected to officially announce Windows 8.1 Update 1 in March, so the company is now in the middle of the testing process taking place ahead of the public launch. In the meantime, various testing builds are reaching the web, and according to Windows leaker WZOR, a new version has now leaked.Windows 8.1 Update 1 Build 9600.16606 has reportedly been compiled, which means that Microsoft partners are already testing it right now, so we’re getting really close to the official debut of the update.Of course, the interest for a leaked copy of the update is growing, but WZOR claims that we still have to wait a little bit longer until this happens. Screenshots showing the upcoming update are expected to reach the web in the next few hours, so we’ll keep you posted on this.Update: it turns out that Microsoft has enabled boot to desktop by default in this new build.Source
PrEzi
Well... another small step to convince me it is actually usable on my Desktop PCs...What I'd also want to see is :- Aero Glass (just because I like it and there is no proven energy-saving from the fugly flat interface) --> this probably won't happen,- Start Menu in old Win7 fashion --> Probably will be replaced with a Frankenbuild of Start Screen/Menu Modern UI design- Total disappearance of Ribbon in the Explorer --> Probably also won't happen- More consistent UI without the need to EVER switch to Modern (if I want to do something in the settings -- it should be replicated in Control Panel and Vice-Versa) -- ?- Ability to run Modern apps just like normal Desktop apps (Windowed mode, "X"-close button, resizable, pinnable etc.) --> at least Windowed mode confirmed- oh yeah... and bring back those damn Sidebar/gadgets for all 16:10/9 users --> ?- and maybe ... disabling all of the hot corners and totaly disabling charms bar (only if point 4 is first secured and done about consistent UI)I'd say - so far - so good -- some of the points from my list were actually handled ! But more remain ;) Edited January 31, 2014 by PrEzi
