Reefa
BitDefender is one of the latest companies which announced that their security products will still work on Windows XP after Microsoft officially retires the operating system. Windows XP is projected to be discontinued on April 8, so no other security patches and updates would be released after this date.BitDefender revealed that all anti-malware software solutions would work on Windows XP for 32 more months after April, which means that users still running the aging operating system and a BitDefender security product would continue to get virus definition updates for more than two and a half years.“We will continue to offer assistance to Bitdefender users who decide not to upgrade or are in the process of upgrading their OS," said Catalin Cosoi, chief security strategist & global communications director at Bitdefender.“Their computers will remain updated with the latest security fixes to protect against malware and phishing attacks. We are flexible and may extend support past these dates, depending on market circumstances.”BitDefender is just one of the companies whose products will still work on Windows XP after the official demise of the OS, as several other top players in the industry have already confirmed continued support for this Windows version for at least two more years.“Bitdefender will continue to provide support to help affected home users fight off viruses, Trojans, spyware and other malware until at least January 2016 and for enterprise customers until at least January 2017. According to our records, one in five Windows computers uses XP and Bitdefender recognizes not all users can quickly shift to a newer version. Enterprise deployment can take months or years and home users may have to wait until the resources are available to make the switch,” the company stated.Microsoft itself has announced that Security Essentials would still receive definition updates after April, but download links for Windows XP would be removed.Source

AlexCross
I don't get it. When you buy a software you buy the full pachage. So why MS won't release updates for XP anymore? When you bought XP it didn't say anywhere that they won't make updates after 2014 or "n" years. So they're just forcing you to spend more money on their products. They are so stupid. They could just make monthly and yearly subscriptions and you would pay like 3-4 $/month, and you would have free upgrade to the newest release and so on. Many people would decide to get a subscription than to use a pirated version. But good for them that they find stupid people to pump money under their asses Edited January 24, 2014 by AlexCross

MidnightDistortions
Good for Bitdefender :) Honestly though this is just a way for A/V companies to make more money by continuing to support XP. But in the end the users who have been sticking with XP will get what they want which is a few more years of use.
