Well Guys, I don't know how many of you are on Android but I believe each of us has an Idea of what we are about to discuss here.

If you have been following my threads, you could see that am much interested in Android smartphones.

Followed a couple of posts and found out that most people are having problems with their sd cards when they flash with a custom rom for android.

Am one of them, Currently I have an 8Gb Samsung sd card which i bought prior to my corrupted 8Gb Transcend SD Card which lead to the corruption of my 320 Toshiba HHD.

This SD card works perfectly after some days as i flashed with a custom rom, now the SD card doesn't mount on Android anymore but works perfectly in Recovery and on Stock ROMs. I have a thread on xda-developers forum which their suggestions couldn't help.

I need a suggestion on how best I can flash an SD Card and which SD Card works best on Android.

Wiki

A stock ROM is the version of the phone's operating system that comes with your phone when you buy it.

A custom ROM is a fully standalone version of the OS, including the kernel (which makes everything run), apps, services, etc - everything you need to operate the device, except it's customized by someone in some way.

This is the problem faced by many user when flashing, backing-up and restoring from SD card. SD card is like USB any time it be broken down or get corrupted, with SD card reliability is not 100% or even 99%. That is why many professional users of android and developer of kernels and custom roms suggest to backup roms and put it of computer or better make first a backup and then it on the cloud or put it on internal storage of the phone, if just installing roms or anything without wiping entire system files or setting to factory setting.

You can also flash, restore and backup roms and kernels and many more with USB GTO. Similar like hooking USB to a computer.

Regarding to your inquiry

Is possible that custom rom is not stable. I would suggest whatever custom rom you are on put your problems on XDA custom rom topic which you are on.

Have you installed custom kernel with custom rom. Sometime kernel can create problems..

As for good SD card I would suggest Scandisk, there are good and safe.

Thanks soo much, I don't know but if your are on xda site, you can have a look at my threads.

I state specific reasons on what actually happened regarding a problem am facing.

I don't know if the stability of a ROM affects the sd card to mount or not.

The problem actually happened when i backed up a rom flashed and restored later.

I port ROM's alot so i will look out for ScanDisk SD Cards. But have any idea how to re flash a sd card?

Which custom rom you are running and/or any custom kernel you are running. And on what phone?

Install some SD card app like SD-Booster and see what happens. After using all possible solutions, I would suggest try doing data and cache wipe from the recovery and see if it works. And if it doesn't then do factory reset. But make sure that you backup all app+data, call logs and sms with titanium into your internal storage and then put it to your computer.

Well for now am on Stock 2.3.6 on HTC Desire HD with a 8 Gb Samsung SD Card.

I have flashed a lot of custom ROM's (a rom tester here :P) thinking either of them will fix it, but it didn't.

I flashed with CyanogenMod ROMs, JellyTime, Sence Ports, SHVD and more.

But before this problem will happen, i was on CM 10.2 SR3 as my daily driver.

Ported HTC One S ROM for my Device, tested and i had a couple of issues. I restored back and now my SD card wont mount, I reboot into recovery and the SD Card was there. So immediately, I flashed to Stock and the SD card was available. I flashed with CyanoGenMod, and it wasn't mounting... The SD card wont mount on android so you wont be able to modify or install an app.

I always flash with wipe recovery script (which does a full wipe) before installing a ROM.

Like I said resetting into factory, would be your best bet.

Have you tried this.

Or try reformatting the SD card right after copying everything on SD card to the computer.

Did a lot of resettings, formated sd card several times.
