SORRY Barack Obama. Nobody really cares about you anymore. It's all about Hillary Clinton these days, and whether she'll run for president in 2016.

Supporters of Ms Clinton have been begging the former First Lady, senator and Secretary of State to run for months. Ms Clinton has to declare her intentions this year, and a new development overnight suggests she is in fact planning a dig at the White House.

This gets a teensy bit complicated, so buckle up.

Ms Clinton already ran for president once, back in 2008. She failed to gain the Democratic Party's nomination, losing to a young senator called Barack Obama. We all know how that ended up.

Ms Clinton may have lost, but she picked up a lot of supporters along the way, many of whom donated money to her campaign.

Now Ms Clinton's 2008 campaign, which evidently still exists in some form, has rented a list with all the email addresses of those supporters to an organisation called Ready for Hillary, which has been urging her to run in 2016.
On Sunday (US time), Ready for Hillary sent an email to everyone on that list, offering them a free bumper sticker and telling them it's time to get their support for Ms Clinton "organised and ready for 2016".
"One of the best ways to spark these conversations about Hillary potentially running in 2016 is by showing your support right now," the email reads.

You may wonder what the big deal is. It's not as though this email is an official announcement from Ms Clinton herself.

The part getting American political commentators so excited is the cooperation between Ms Clinton's 2008 campaign and Ready for Hillary. It's seen as an unofficial acknowledgment that she's preparing to run in 2016.

Sounds a bit obsessive, right? Welcome to US politics.

Anyway, Ms Clinton is universally considered the favourite for the Democrats' presidential nomination in 2016. If she does decide to compete for the top job, she'll be very hard to beat.
