For several months, they've been talking about the new cloud-based back-end, suggesting that will mean actual proper syncing on the client side, and presumably, even offline messaging, a feature that many other messaging programs (including Messenger!) have had for years.Unless MS pulls a surprise in the waning days of the month, 2013 was a bust.Don't even get me started on the buggy Android client.
