tezza
I believe that Threshold will be Win8.2, but let's wait and watch because so far all this is just rumor. Another big free update has always been on the cards, which was supposed to be called 8.2 or as of rumour now 8.1 update 1.Threshold refers to the wave of operating systems across Microsoft's various Windows-based platforms, so this i feel is more likely to be called 9 ( Distanced from 8 ) as opposed to 8.2, but we will just have to wait and see. STEEL
 An what I saw from Win9; it looks like; that they are making a Small turn-around to old X.P. ;)I haven't seen any leaks of early builds of Win9 yet. Can you link me to what you've seen?I think he has seen deviant art concept images ;) , there are no leaks, only from fake photoshoppers :Dhttp://news.softpedia.com/news/Windows-9-and-Windows-10-Details-Leaked-378333.shtmlhttp://news.softpedia.com/news/Windows-9-Coming-in-November-2014-Chinese-Sources-Claim-337940.shtmlMan there,s to much Fracking going on around here. I should have said Win X (10) :P
STEEL
Just images or concepts, and Softpedia certainly will not be the place that leaks the first pictures, that i can guarantee ;)I agree, Softpedia's not some great source.http://news.softpedia.com/news/Windows-9-Coming-in-November-2014-Chinese-Sources-Claim-337940.shtmlhttp://news.softpedia.com/news/Windows-9-and-Windows-10-Details-Leaked-378333.shtmlThose articles contain rumors and are downright incorrect in some instances. For example, the second one states:As we’ve already told you, Windows 9 is expected to bring a wide array of improvements to the current Windows platform, including better touch support and UI changes. In addition, it is very likely to pack the full version of Internet Explorer 11, the upgraded Microsoft browser that should see daylight in Windows Blue in the form of a beta version.Well guess what, WinBlue i.e. Win8.1 already has IE11 final in it.I think he has seen deviant art concept images ;) , there are no leaks, only from fake photoshoppers :DYes, but just thought I'd ask him in case he has some insider info instead of relying on some die-hard XP fan's desperate wish. Now for the bombshell. I'm sure STEEL was referring to DA concepts, but according to Paul Thurrott, the next wave of Windows releases codenamed Threshold (Win8.2?) might actually bring back the start menu as an option, and also allow Modern apps to run windowed! :omg: I am shocked! It's not confirmed but if this happens it will be a huge admission of defeat from Microsoft and also in one shot will kill all start menu replacement apps and also apps such as ModernMix, RetroUI etc. On the plus side it should finally stop people whining endlessly about the start screen and Metro and make them far more receptive to Win8.x (I mean, given the choice why wouldn't you move to Win8.x at that point as compared to Win7?)Yep; just look for Win 10  :P :hi:

oliverjia
Yeah I really hate these stupid version schemes by these companies, started by Google (Chrome) and followed by Mozilla. I mean, what the fxxk is going on - they roll out a new integer version number almost every month? What the fxxk, can't they just use major version number + minor verison number + build nubmer, the old fashioned way? Using a big number does not mean their software is better. hate it!I want Windows 27. And I want it NOW!!! :mad2: Edited December 13, 2013 by oliverjia
calguyhunk
Yeah I really hate these stupid version schemes by these companies,.....Using a big number does not mean their software is betterNo, but it's good for promotion! "Look, how much bang for your buck you're getting! We maintain and improve our software on a regular basis"! :mad2:It's good for product promotion. Just keeps the marketing guys excited about selling the 'all new' product. They do this with virtually everything - from shaving creams and shampoos to potato chips and cookies. When was the last time you didn't use an "all new" shave gel or shampoo that worked exactly same as the last version or an "all new" flavor of potato chips that tasted almost identical to the last bag LOL! :lol:Those developers that have even the slightest bit of integrity, don't bother upgrading the major version number unless the changes actually merit the version upgrade. Look at Eugene Roshal for instance. I've been using WinRAR ever since I gave up WinZip back in the late 90's and in all this while, he's only just got upto version 5.01 a few days back! Just wish Mozilla didn't follow Google so blindly. From version numbers to Australis! :wtf: Edited December 13, 2013 by calguyhunk
