Windows Firewall Control 4.0.4.2

Microsoft Windows have already built-in default, free and powerful firewalls, but unfortunately, they lack a simple interface to define own simple rules and can be difficult sometimes to configure them the right way. Windows Firewall Control is a nifty little application which extends the functionality of the Windows Firewall and provides quick access to the most frequent options of Windows Firewall. It runs in the system tray and allows user to control the native firewall easily without having to waste time by navigating to the specific part of the firewall. Windows Firewall Control offers four filtering modes which can be switched with just a mouse click. WFC is free to use, registered users will get the advantage of learning mode which provides notifications for outgoing blocked connections.

Thanks to Freddyfre for the update.

Guys am I the only one using hosts method with keygen to keep it registered?

Everytime a update is released, I starts looking for alternate link to download the setup,

due to hosts file patching I can't access the official download link.. :nono:

just curious what you guys are using to keep the program registered..

This keygen works for me:

http://www.solidfiles.com/d/aeddac834c/

PS: I found a better host than www.datafilehost.com. It's just the way datafilehost used to be before they tricked users into downloading some krap unless they unchecked the tickbox. We have a new host with direct linking :)

thanks man..

im currently using TinyWall ..

but i experience problems w/some applications that require unique ports..

and was considering this..

but after reading Online .. i decided to go with TinyWall because of it's long existence & many years of development..

i am contemplating trying this..

how is this better than TinyWall?

For one it's the built in firewall so the header on the ping time reduction is significantly lower. I'm using it on WIN 8.1 but on my win 7 I use comodo firewall.

this program has the ability to create rules specific to ports. just customise the rule before you create it and create rules for outbound and inbound connections.

i understand..

but from reading around ..

i noticed many people saying since it's a fairly new application..

there are many bugs yet to be discovered, and have had many already..

i was hoping there were definite benefits over TinyWall..

from what i gather..

it boils down to preference..

i'll take it for a spin..

FYI: TinyWall is only a GUI for Windows Firewall, except with many years of experience.. and it's free.

Actually Windows Firewall Control has been around since 2010 while initial release of TinyWall was in 2011, so WFC has been around longer.

damn.. ur right..

i re-imaged last night..

installed WFC and left it running over night..

right away.. i like the prompts...

very convenient..

although.. anyone else experience DNS service being turned on automatically?

caused my laptop to freeze on the next reboot..

i had to manually disable it a second time before sticking..

i wonder if WFC uses DNS service ...

Tip:

  • becareful if you use TrashReg..
  • right after activating w/the keygen..
  • TrashReg will detect a key.. don't delete it.. it belongs to WFC..
  • i learned that the hard way :)

you know what..

i figured out why i had the impression this was newer than TinyWall..

the abbreviation.. WFC..

i was thinking of WFN .. which is newer and problematic..

and hardly updated..

either way.. i took WFC for a spin ..

i liked it.. but it was problematic with my VPNs..

it even prevented me from making any changes to the firewall..

i switched back to TinyWall..

although it's not as flashy ..

for me.. it's much more refine... in terms of settings.. and overall design..

TinyWall's developer seems to have much more in-depth knowledge about firewall and security..

and it comes with default settings..

- allows me to make changes to my firewall..

- i can quickly allow or block apps.

- etc ..
