My Dvd-Writer unit,it's not detected by Windows 8.1 PRO x64

Hi guys.!

Guys,i have a problem.Installed Windows 8.1 PRO edition x64.Inserted the dvd iso image into my optical unit.Everything fine,installed and all good.But after a few days of using my PC without writting any disc,suddenly i can't see my dvd-writer inside windows.I can seeit in my bios and somehow as generic unit and i can boot-up a windows iso image.

What the heck is happening ? Any help is much apreciated.

What do you mean you can't see the DVD writer? It's not in windows explorer? Do you have a desktop or laptop? I would open up my computer casing, unplug the device, replug it in, and restart.

Try this

reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

Restart the system a couple of times and hopefully the problem will be fixed.
