HTC M8 coming with a high-powered Snapdragon 800 and a 4MP UltraPixel camera

On Monday, a mysterious AnTuTu entry led us to believe that we're likely witnessing the first time the oft-rumored HTC M8 actually got its internals tested. The score, about 36,000, is typical of Snapdragon 800, and considering that the HTC One was initially known as the HTC M7, it all made sense – the HTC 0P6B120 is the HTC M8, which is the successor of the HTC One.

As educated as these guesses were, we'll never say no to some more evidence that supports our theory. Luckily for you and us both, the folks behind the AnTuTu benchmark blogged on this very same topic, and it seems that we had this one right.

For starters, our guess that this is likely the HTC M8 checks out, as the benchmarked phone runs on software dubbed htc_m8-userdebug|4.4|KRT160 (based on Android 4.4 KitKat). What's more, our genius insight into AnTuTu scores and corresponding hardware was also spot on, as it turns out that the HTC M8 sports Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB. That mumbo-jumbo of a model number at the end signifies that this is the high-powered version of Qualcomm's mightiest, featuring slightly higher clocks than the conventional Snapdragon 800.

Details, like the rumored bump in real estate, have also been confirmed from AnTuTu's dig – we're indeed getting a 5-inch 1080p display, along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal space. But, perhaps most important of all, it turns out that the HTC M8 is on path to continue the disappointing legacy of the company's proprietary UltraPixel technology, as it sports the very same 4MP snapper on its rear plus a 2.1MP shooter front-side.

Phone arena sucks, I always think they take bribes from both Samsung and apple. The HTC one camera is pretty good, most of the time, and can excel when others fail but can take some mediocre shots at other times. I like it and anandtech gave it a favorable review too. And last year phonearena in a head to head comparison between the one and the s4 listed as a negative for the one Sense (I buy HTC phones because they have sense) and as a positive for the s4 touchwiz, really? Phonearena sucks

Everyone should watch their nexus 5 vs iPhone 5s video on YouTube, the bias is insane, watch the guy get all into bends to make the 5s screen appear better than the n5, when the only objective point where it scores better is that is is slightly brighter (20 nits, unpercieveable for our eyes)
