I just updated to version 2.1.0 PAF version. It's listed as version 2.1.0 on PortableApps platform, but why it still says version 1.7.1.0 in the PortableApps\VLCPortable?

Nice anyone know what they fix ? , A few times with 2.1.0 I open up a video file it crashed .

I agree with @remzkee0903, Daum PotPlayer is by far the best. I update to all the betas it never does crash . I been using PotPlayer since 2011.

VLC would be much better if they would add a few more settings to there player.

For older pcs with a slow proceser, MovieSpot player is best, it uses less cpu than any other player, but the downside to MovieSpot is you have to install codecs .

1.7.1.0 is the launcher version for portable app released by PortableApps.com

PortableApps platform doesn't read the vlc version from the launcher, its read from appinfo.ini file

Mind explaining for a Muggle, Sir? I saw the version in appinfo.ini is indeed 2.1.0. But what's launcher version and why it can't be the same as the real version? And does it mean I have version 2.1.0 or 1.7.1.0?

vlc.exe file version is 2.1.0.0 so I can tell you have version 2.1.0

these are also portable, just pick one of them

http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/2.1.1/win32/vlc-2.1.1-win32.7z

http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/2.1.1/win32/vlc-2.1.1-win32.zip

But my VLCPortable.exe in PortableApps\VLCPortable folder is version 1.7.1.0. But on PortableApps platform and in the Help > About on the software, it says 2.1.0  *confused*

VLCPortable.exe is just a software launcher from PortableApps, vlc itself is in vlc folder
