Google announced yesterday a new service for users of its search engine called My Search History.

My Search History allows you to access and manage your Google web search history from any computer. You can search and browse through your search history and even check on your level of activity for any given day. In order to use the service you must have a Google or Gmail account.

If you are signed in to your Google account, Search History will save information about your activity on Google, including your search queries, the results that you click on, and the date and time of your searches. If you aren't signed in, this information won't be added to My Search History.

Some news organizations have called the new service "a computer peephole that could prove as embarrassing as it is helpful" because anyone with access to your Google account could learn what keywords you've been typing into the search engine.

Our advice if you don't want people snooping into your search behaviour is simple: Don't sign up for the service!

Stopping or Removing My Search

It is possible, if you do sign up, to remove search history or stop the service.

* To remove searches, simply click the "Remove items" link in the upper-right corner whenever you're browsing your search history page.

* To stop the storing of search information you can either log out of your Google Account or simply pause the service by clicking on the "Pause" link in the blue title bar of your search history page. You can then "un-pause" search history whenever you want by clicking on the Resume" link.

* To permanently stop using the service, you can delete the service by clicking the "Delete My Search History" link on your account page.

Unless you forget to sign out or someone sneeks on your computer, SHOULDN'T only people you trust (or people that you dont care if they know about your porn obsession) have access to your account? This isn't a very good point cuz its easy to erase or stop the logging all together. I actually like this feature cuz it'll be helpful to me.

Its like... if Microsoft was a good, friendly company trying to compete with the competition, they'd be called Google.

I mean, Googles like, "Here you guys go, try out THIS new feature, well have another new feature out in a week, and of coarse, its free. We make enough money off of ads and publicity"

And Microsoft is like, "Hey, we had a good program that put us ahead of the competition, and we kept going from there. We develope new, less bugy and slightly more reliable software every few years that'll only cost you a few hundred dollars to stay up to date. We could develope an extremely more reliable OS if we wanted, but why would we want to do that? Come on, we're stuck up, tightwad ass holes and we want your money."

I know their not in the exact same field, but you get the point.

erm... well atleast its another feature that the others dont have. Plus this would have come in handy before since it tells you what sites you went to after you searched for something. Cuz I've forgot on what site I saw something before and it can take a while sometimes to find the info if you really nead it.
