Matsuda
Third-party market researchers across the world claim that Internet Explorer is the number one browser worldwide but, in some cases, this pretty much depends on the company that’s provided the market share statistics. There is a country, however, where Internet Explorer is clearly the leading choice, not because Microsoft’s browser is such an advanced app, but because local legislation gives users no other option.Washington Post is reporting that South Koreans are stuck with Internet Explorer because of a law that requires online shopping services to restrict access of all the other browsers, including Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, and allow only users running Microsoft’s app.“Purchases can only be made through Internet Explorer,” a message displayed on an online shopping website is telling users, according to the same source. The explanation is as simple as it could be. The online payment system implemented by the South Korean government is based on an ActiveX control that obviously requires Internet Explorer to work properly. Until any updates are made to this system, no other browsers will be allowed.Market share figures for South Korea pretty much speak for themselves. 36.11 percent of the users are now running Internet Explorer 8, while 22.68 percent of them moved to Internet Explorer 10. Another 17.13 percent are actually sticking to Internet Explorer 9, which takes the overall share of Microsoft’s browser to 75.92 percent.Microsoft, on the other hand, continues to invest a fortune in new and more secure versions of Internet Explorer that can compete with the latest browsers on the market, including Firefox and Chrome.Windows 8, for example, is being offered out of the box with Internet Explorer 10, while users making the move to Windows 8.1 get Internet Explorer 11 installed by default.Still, in South Korea’s case, the main concern is security and whether sticking to an old system that forces consumers to keep using ancient browsers can expose financial details or not.View: Original Article

ande
Not saying IE is a way to go but Firefox is awaiting the same destiny as Netscape - add-ons are the only thing that keeps them alive. As long as Google is pushing their tracking and vulnerable monster Chrome dominion is inevitable.Google Chrome is designed with purpose of maximizing their revenue which is 99% advertising and tracking.Latest Chromium builds are highly influenced by Google so is a big no no unless you are building your own browser with chromium as core.If you are on nix and I suggest you Lynx or IceCat, unless you are web dev. LeetPirate
I think everyone should be forced to use Internet Explorer. It's the best and is #1Not sure if you were being sarcastic or not but hell I agree with you. Even with an SSD Firefox manages to take 3-4 seconds to load for the first time. IE loads faster than 1 second, lol. Plus atleast when IE updates from 10 to 11 you can expect a great quantity of new features and enhancements as compared with Firefox version 1 million and 3. By the time I finish this post they would have changed the spelling of a word in Firefox and release version 1 million and 4.
Whoopenstein
Of course IE loads faster - MS has access to Windows that nobody else has. AFAIK, they load code to slow down the competition. That's why I don't use or trust IE.

I sincerely hope you're solely using Linux or OS X, because if you mistrust Microsoft so much it makes absolutely no sense to use their OS too. LeeSmithG
No bazinga here.IE is the Dogs bollox of browsers.Faster, quicker loading, quality...ectera.Mozilla was o.k. back in the day, when it was 0.5.Opera is not customable easily, not bad, but not quite I.E. yet.Google is mustard, not quite there, but #2.I luv I.E. 11 is better apart from the small icons issue. janedoe
Nice comment Jane. ANYONE with a debugger? Really? All right, anyone with a debugger who knows how to use one. :) If you can prove your accusation I'm sure not just the intelligent developers of Mozilla and Google and millions of users of their browsers, but even the EU will be grateful to you. So, how about it?I luv I.E. 11 is better apart from the small icons issue.IE's C++-based extension model is what irritates me the most. If users could create extensions for it as easily as for Firefox and Chrome, it would really take some beating. As it stands, IE11 is great and I have no problems using it any more, but my first choice still remains FF before they stuff up the UI sometime next year. janedoe
but, they stopped support for java.I think that's just a consequence of all the changes made with respect to Enhanced Protected Mode. Try toggling that from Internet Options > Advanced and Java will start working again. In any case unless you really need it stay away from the buggy and extremely insecure Java plugin. As for MSJVM, no point crying over something that's not been available for more than a decade. :) Edited November 13, 2013 by janedoe
