Discussions: Which Start Button App do you use & which one is the best?

Since the release of Windows 8, Microsoft decided to remove the start button from the OS.

Ever since, a lot of developers has used that as an advantage to create apps to bring back the start bottom.

Microsoft thought of this and brought it back in Windows 8.1, yet still users are not appreciating it, and still want a start bottom app to replace Microsoft's start bottom.

I have come across a lot of start bottom apps - used most of them.

Day inn and Day out more and more start bottom apps is been released.

I've tried many start buttons and here my top choices from them
- StartIsBack ( Windows 8 ), StartIsBack+ ( Windows 8.1 );
- Classic Shell;
- Start8;
- Without start button.
I'm using StartIsBack+ on Windows 8.1.

Lol...IMHO...StartIsBack/StartIsBack+ is the best..very light and unobtrusive..it made me switch from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 OS ...You can see my favourite apps in sig..

In a Microsoft default OS, I've found that the Windows Updates shortcut does not allow one to pin it to Start Menu - have been dragging-n-dropping it into StartIsBack, without complaints.

SIB is the best so far from what I've tried before, because it not run as services and still can see it on safe mode. :rolleyes: :yes: :)

Start8 is also similar program, but StartIsBack is very light and it doesn't run any background service for its execution. that's why the best :)

lol..Have you activated it?if you haven't activated the license...i may give your share of activation to another nsaner who really needs/likes/wants to use SIB/SIB+...

Default but when someone ask me to install a start bottom iobit Start Menu 8.

IMHO using Old Start Buttons Menu in Windows 8/8.1 is like using symbian OS in your mobile phone when you have better options like ios, Android, Windows Phone 8. Dont stick to old theory, Start Exploring new possibilities thats the way to go.

Of course slimrock - i like that, but it might take time before you will get adapted to the new start screen, so people prefer going back to their old start bottom until when they finally decided to go back and and use the start screen.

What type of Start menu program are you searching for?? :think:

every program is more or less similar in UI and options...

The only one option remaining is to try every program you have listed and then judge it by yourself... :D

LOL! i cant try all of these... :( that is the reason why i posted over here for you.

Alot of you may have tried it. so will give me a review about it.

I only need one which support 3rd party themes. am creating a startorb ico - but it wont fit with the ones i have tried.

The only option left for me is to revert back to my default start orb by MS and see if i can get a replacer to change the default Win start orb.
