While the console game is a sterling experience the online play has seen a troubled launch. None of this has made any impact on the game, though, and it has sold in the millions on the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) and Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles, and has now been awarded six Guinness world records.The game has won awards for most sales in the first 24 hours, and for being the fastest entertainment property to gross $1bn in sales. These records put it above popcorn pullers like Avatar and The Avengers and sofa denters like the Call of Duty franchise.Guinness World Records editor in chief Craig Glenday said, "GTA totally deserves to be recognized as an icon of modern British culture, and we're thrilled to be able to feature the game in the record books."Gaming is no longer a niche hobby, as GTA 5 has proved, and how exciting that it's taken on the might of Hollywood and won! "I'm also doubly proud as a Dundonian to welcome this home-grown series back into the Guinness World Records book."GTA 5 got two Guinness awards for being a top selling videogame and the best selling action and adventure game. It is both the entertainment property to gross $1bn the fastest and the videogame to gross $1bn the fastest.$1bn in gross revenue makes it the highest grossing video game, again in 24 hours, and it has the record for the highest revenue generated by an entertainment product in 24 hours.
