Malware-Alert-Please-Update-Your-Expired

Dropbox users are advised to be on the lookout for emails entitled “Please update your Expired Dropbox Password.” Experts warn that cybercriminals are sending out such scam notifications in an effort to distribute malware.

“We noticed that you recently tried to login in to Dropbox with a password that you haven't changed more than 90 days. Your old password has expired and you'll need to create a new one to log in. Please visit the page to update your password,” the emails read.

According to Conrad Longmore of Dynamoo’s Blog, the links from the emails point to a hacked website that’s set up to redirect users to a hijacked domain which serves malware.

If you come across such emails, be sure to delete them immediately. If you’ve already clicked on the links, scan your computer with an up-to-date antivirus solution to make sure it hasn’t been infected with malware.

once again the best line of defense is your common sense and NOT blind faith in a firewall and other programs that do no good when your common sense fails
