Call of Duty: Ghosts is introducing "an entirely new way" to experience the series' multiplayer with Squads, a new suite of gameplay modes that lets you fight alongside — and against — teams of AI-controlled soldiers. In a newly released video, Infinity Ward details Ghosts' Squads feature set and how it will tie into the game's multiplayer component.

Squads consists of a handful of modes: Wargame, in which players fight with friends or AI-controlled squadmates against a team of bots with varied loadouts; Squad Assault, a cooperative battle against the offline squads customized by other players; Squad vs. Squad, a battle against two squads, each with one human-controlled player; and Safeguard, a coop survival mode that uses perks and killstreaks from Call of Duty's multiplayer mode.

The experience players earn in Squads will carry over to the game's multiplayer mode, potentially making it easier for players to rank up on their own terms.

In at least one of those modes, Wargame, players will be able to earn XP without having to play. Your AI-controlled squad can battle against other players, accruing experience while you're offline.

Infinity Ward and Activision revealed first details about Call of Duty: Ghosts' Squads mode at a multiplayer reveal event in August.

Ghosts is coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and Windows PC on Nov. 5. Next-generation versions of the game will be available at the launch of Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
