Watch Dogs is a 30fps next-gen game, Xbox 360 version ships on 2 discs

If you asked most gamers to list which next-gen launch games they were most looking forward to, Watch Dogs would feature heavily. The open world shooter with a heavy reliance on the use of technology and hacking, certainly looks promising, and Ubisoft is keeping us interested with regular gameplay video releases.
But with the launch of both the PS4 and Xbox One drawing ever nearer, the questions about all the launch games turn to “how well do they run?” That means what frame rate can we expect, and are titles going to be true 1080p? etc.
During the Eurogamer Expo last week, Watch Dogs’ creative director, Jonathan Morin, confirmed that on next-gen consoles the game will run at 30fps.By hitting 30fps, rather than trying to go higher, Ubisoft can guarantee a “steady” experience. What Morin couldn’t confirm is whether Watch Dogs is a 720p or 1080p game. He doesn’t know, and says his entire focus is on ensuring the game runs well.
It’s also easy to forget that Ubisoft is maximizing the sales potential for Watch Dogs by also releasing it on current gen consoles (you’ll actually be able to play it on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U). And it’s no small game, which means the studio has had to take the same approach as GTA V when it comes to the Xbox 360 version.
So, if you pick up the Xbox 360 copy of Watch Dogs in November, don’t be surprised if it’s a little heavier in the box than the other versions. That’s because it ships on two discs, and just like GTA V, the first disc is for installation, the second is for use during play. That also means you probably shouldn’t try and install that second disc as it will cause performance issues.
