Microsoft has just re-issued one of the botched updates originally launched on Patch Tuesday, thus providing Windows users with a fix that doesn’t cause an empty Navigation Pane in Outlook 2013.

Soon after Patch Tuesday, lots of users complained about issues caused by KB2817630 and while Microsoft was investigating the issues, many turned to simple workarounds like removing and hiding the updates from their Windows computers.

“This issue occurs because a reference is matched to the wrong data structure. This causes the minimize button in the Navigation pane to be rendered at a size that is larger than expected. Therefore, the minimize button prevents the Navigation pane from being displayed,” Microsoft explained.

The correct version of the patch is now being delivered to users via Windows Update, so make sure you restore the KB2817630 entry to be able to download it.
