All you do is choose custom install at beginning and then disable the 2 update check options ;)Try whatever you can( even after choosing custom install and untick the options for update it will remind you to update again in 14 days) you can't get rid of the update reminder. This is tried and tested method... :) :) Then maybe that is what the previous patch also modifies because I have never needed to do any of what you described. All I have ever done on the many systems I have installed TU on is disable the 2 checks in custom install and never once had the popup.I will be installing 2014 version tomorrow so will test unticking the update options is enough. After finish,go to setting >uncheck "automatically check for updates".
