nsane.forums
Windows' share of the tablet market grew slightly in the second quarter, as shipments also ticked up in the face of a slow-down by tablets overall, researcher IDC said last week. But the company's innovative Surface line contributed just a fraction of that tally, showing just how difficult a task Microsoft has set for itself in transforming into a device builder and seller. "The [hardware] partners who have been supporting Windows 8 continue to do so, which is good, and they're starting to make some traction," said Ryan Reith, an IDC analyst on the team that tracks tablet shipments. "But I would not call Surface a success by any means." While all tablet shipments declined about 8 percent in the second quarter compared to the first, those powered by Windows grew by 11 percent over the same stretch, according to IDC estimates released last week. insanedown58
I think they should release a "Budget Surface" much like what Nokia is doing with the Lumia series. I mean personally I'd buy it if there was a Surface for only... say.. $160? They could strip down stuff like, the Storage from 16,32 and higher to a mere 8GB (but of course with an SD Slot to go up until 64GB) and the screen to 7 inches (since its one of the oh so big changes in 8.1) . If they can release a 4GB variant then that'd be better but I doubt it since the Windows RT and Windows 8 OS size is GARGANTUAN! (I mean seriously Windows 8.1 32-Bit is 8GB).Lastly, MAKE IT WORLDWIDE! I haven't seen a Surface go on sale here in the Philippines but I have seen devices like the Samsung ATIV PC on stores.
