MidnightDistortions
With that said you can still use XP, you just won't be secure anymore and i wouldn't do any online banking or shopping with an obsolete, vulnerable OS. In fact i think i will have to invest in a new printer since i have been using XP to do my taxes/printing out my state return.

jackieo
My laptop ( 3 years old) came installed with Win 7, and then i found out that it could run XP, which i enthusastically installed!Lately i got another hard drive and used the restore dvds i made from the original install of Win 7 and now i have 2 hard drives for my laptop-1 with XP and 1 with Win 7- i do video editing projects and because win 7 is 64 bit, i can run software that my 32 bit XP cannot run!I have always considered myself a "die hard" XP user...lately though i have been using the Win 7 hard drive and i really like it-if i didn't, then i would just use the extra hard drive as a backup copy of the other XP drive in case of failure....Reading the above comments about secure-ness of future un-supported XP is not something i had considered.but fully updated, and remaining offline to play games or run things that win 7 will not run, an XP machine can run for years.and with a good backup plan to restore, no worries. The tower desktop (athlon 64 cpu- agp graphics) XP machine i built in 2005 will run til the hardware dies.bottom line- i feel good using win 7 ( i did not like win7 at first because of vista) - but i can use it without hassle now.and its nice to be able to go back to XP if the need arises.Win 8-I have not gotten there yet...altho my son has it on his laptop- he hates it.
