uTorrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little cpu, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients. With uTorrent, you can download files faster and contribute by sharing files and bandwidth. Additionally, uTorrent supports the Protocol Encryption joint specification (compatible with Azureus 2.4.0.0 and above, BitComet 0.63 and above) and peer exchange.

FYI, because of the (optional) automatic update feature, the program is now installed under your Windows user directory (the reasoning is, like with Google Chrome, updates can be made easily without running afoul of UAC). You don't even have a choice of install path anymore during the install, and if you had it installed somewhere else before it's ignored.

To get it to run from my old location, I moved the .EXE to that old location and removed the new uTorrent profile files.

Just place the .exe in your original directory & then you don't even have to run the installer to begin with. :)

Is newest versions utorrent not showing up in the system tray? Do you want to get rid of ad banner at the top and on the sidebar? Here's how....

If you're one of the many that are experiencing the latest version(s) of utorrent not showing up in the systems tray when running the program, here is the solution:

http://www.mediafire.com/?7820g48ua6ddxoc
------------------------------------------------------
Do you want to get rid of ad banner at the top of the newer versions of utorrent? Here's how:

1. Run utorrent, obviously.
2. On toolbar, click on Options then Preferences, from drop down menu
3. Click on Advanced next to + symbol from menu on the left
4. From long list of items, scroll down to where is says...
"offer.left_rail_offer_enabled" and highlight it by clicking on it. Next, select "False" radio button.
Just under that, highlight "offers.sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled" by clicking on it. Next, select "False" radio button. The "Value" for each of these 2 items you just changed should now say *false. Click on "Apply" button, if it's not shaded gray. You may not have to do this, I can't remember exactly.
5. Exit utorrent then restart the program and you'll see that the ad banner has disappeared.
------------------------------------------------------
One last thing. You you configured utorrent to show the sidebar on the left and want to get rid of the ad on the bottom of that sidebar, simply click 'Options' form the toolbar then uncheck "Show Plus Information". You can also uncheck "Show Featured Content", if you don't want it to show at the top or you can press your F8 key.

Simple stuff. Now your new utorrent looks like the older non-ad versions.

That's it..

Enjoy your newly configured utorrent
Journey

29944 is out.

That's 3.32 beta.

Just place the .exe in your original directory & then you don't even have to run the installer to begin with. :)

Really? How long has that been possible? You're not talking about the portable one, right?

Right, non-portable. Not sure for how long it's been possible, I've been doing it for a while and only do a reinstall when the beta becomes stable.
