LazyPotato
Are you? Well yes I'm using a comapnion AV,my main AV is Emsisoft Antimalware,Online Armor Premium = My HIPS and Firewall. Basically,Webroot offers a firewall (disabled it so Online Armor Premium can run its own firewall which is better than Webroot's) and disabled Real-time protection. Plus tweaked HIPS of Online Armor too (to make Webroot take a action first) and excluded Webroot over Emsisoft's exclusion-list.-- Kinda curious if you use another AV. I'm a bit paranoid,so I use a lot of other security products beside a companion AV.

dcs18
One of the companion members of this Board was so companionable (and sensible) that he used an AV as a companion to his security system - very sensible companion, that fella except for the accompanying fact which for the one AV that he used as a companion for his security system, he also installed 4 more companion AVs.The system of our most companionable and sensible member ended up in the company of a total of 5 AVs - 4 AVs companion to the one single AV, which in turn was the companion of his entire security system. Avitar
I use Comodo Internet Security with Advanced System Care Ultimate (running Bitdefender engine) as the secondary. Nothing ever gets past Comodo though :/ but ASC is there for tuneup purposes... and the occasional secondary scan. Comodo has HIPS (very extreme one) and Realtime scans, with the #1 firewall in the industry. It auto sandboxes everything, even running a virtual OS for everyday use that can be nuked daily with no changes to your system. I still have my Laptop the way I got it, with the new softwares i want installed. I highly think I am immune to viruses and online threats.... ASC has a link scanner, then Comodo scans anything I download then Bitdefender scans it, then Comodo sandboxes it and any damage it can cause is gone when I nuke daily resetting the sandbox. The HIPS on Comodo tells me when a program tries to access files or the registry and the Firewall doesn't let a single connection pass without asking me. I lookup the IP address and block or allow as needed on a per IP basis.Oh yeah: wincustomise.net and 7 stacks with rainmeter and object dock FTW. Dodel
I honestly do not see the reason for such extensive scanning. End of the day most Av's & Spyware products us the same dat files or a version of, so yes I agree running one or two (not side by side) is of benefit, but checking a file in one, then another, then another AND then another is just pointless. If you're that paranoid about the software your downloading, a ) Stay off the net, b ) choose better more reputable sources.Dodel
avmad
If you need a companion your main AV isn't good enough. Other non AV companions are better. SpyShelter, Zemana or something is what I'd use. Not another AV. Even they are not really needed. Especially with Emsi and OA.
spudboy
I use the router's firewall and ZoneAlarm Free only to control which apps can be granted in/out access. Just those two and Kaspersky AV is all I use.
Ragdd
Main Anti-virus is Kaspersky Antivirus 2013 on main PC and Eset NOD32 antivirus 6.0 on 2nd PC.Then Hitman Pro 3.x, Malwarebytes Anti-malware, SuperAntiSpyware, Spybot Search & Destroy and Emisoft anti-malware.For firewall, I use the standard firewall in Microsoft Windows 7 + firewall in Netgear WNDR3700v1 router. Also, I use Sandboxie for download I don't trust.
