Google nixes Google Glass porn

Google throws down, hours after Seattle porn company released its app.

Just hours after "adult app store" MiKandi launched its first porn app for Google Glass—named, ahem, “Tits and Glass”—Google updated its policy late Monday, making such products verboten. (The move comes just three days after Google also banned facial recognition apps.)

“We don't allow Glassware content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material,” the new policy states. “Google has a zero-tolerance policy against child pornography. If we become aware of content with child pornography, we will report it to the appropriate authorities and delete the Google Accounts of those involved with the distribution.”

In a blog post, Seattle-based MiKandi company said that in just several hours, “nearly 10,000 unique visitors have visited TitsAndGlass.com [NSFW], and a dozen Glass users have already signed up with our app. Not surprisingly, we’ve reached our API limits. Our previously approved request to up our limit was later denied today, so unfortunately, there’ll be no more updates to Tits & Glass until tomorrow [Tuesday].”

The post continues to lament the fact that Google hasn’t been particularly direct in its communication with MiKandi over sexually explicit material.

“When we received our Glass and started developing our app 2 weeks ago, we went through the policy very carefully to make sure we were developing the app within the terms,” the porn company’s blog post continued. “We double checked again last week when making the site live on the Internet and available for install for testing during last week’s announcement. We were not notified of any changes and still haven’t been notified by Google. We also double checked our e-mails to see if any notifications of policy changes were announced, but we haven’t found any such e-mails.”
