Electronic Arts keeps releasing at least one new Need For Speed game every year and 2013 will be no exception. The company revealed this week that the latest game in the arcade racing series will be called Need for Speed Rivals.

EA's press release announced that the game is being developed by a new in-house team, Ghost Games, and will use the Frostbite 3 engine. Need For Speed Rivals will allow players to become either a racer or a police officer, each with their own set of matches and challenges. Successful drivers can unlock new cars and new abilities as they move up in the ranks.

One big new feature is something called AllDrive, which EA claims will allow players to seamlessly transition from single player to multiplayer matches. It states, "Players will have to keep one eye on their rearview mirror as friends will be able to enter and exit races on-the-fly, creating a world where no two events will ever be the same."

Need For Speed Rivals will have a ton of real world cars to drive, including vehicles from Ferrari for the first time in a Need For Speed game in seven years. It's due for release on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms on November 19th, and will also be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles later this year.

While I agree with that, I personally feel Hot Pursuit (2010) was great game, for which, this game's principally based on. The Run and Most Wanted (2012) were good too, but Run was just like movie and Most Wanted was a Burnout Paradise rippoff. I still think they can bounce back with Rivals.

The good news is, this game will include customization. :D And lot of people are saying that this game is infact Underground 3. :)

DKT27 i shure hope that you are right!!! that should be some kind of rise of the axes like a fenix for the series... most wanted (2012) was an attenpt to recover the fans but if they make Rivals a mix of Underground 2 + most wanted (2004) whould make sucess :D

It's true. This article doesn't mention it, but customization is one of their main selling point of this game, from their website to all the news, everywhere it's written that this game is about customization. :)

After playing like 20 racing games, I still think NFS Underground 2 was the greatest racing game I've played.

Reason is:

  • Night racing.
  • Feel of the street racing.
  • Game full of colors.
  • Perfectly competitive AI, not to harsh, not too easy.
  • Roam everywhere you want.
  • All 4 parts of the map being different than each other.
  • Excellent customizations. Hydraulics, neon under-the-car lights. Engine upgrades. All these were the asset of that game.
  • Good controlling cars.
  • Challenge the AI anywhere in the open world and win points.
  • Easy to earn more points. Drifted a little? Went pass that car? Had a near miss? Reached top speed? Let me give you more NOS and more points.
  • Add more stuff here.

In all, I've never ever played a better racing game than NFS U2.

Fully agree with you :)

Dood. CoD has like 12 games. And same crap everytime, but nobody complaints,at least,NFS is kinda original and better than trying to shoot another person who's hacking over multiplayer.

NFS also has a bunch of hackers, it's not only CoD, if you play e.g. NFSW (World), you will not only face

technical problems over and over again but you will also see bunch of hacking idiots but that makes NFSW

even more worse, i stopped playing it, not because of Hackers but the technical problems they have, they

will never get things sorted completely. And i'm pretty glad that i spend relatively little money.

I played NFSU and NFSU2 very often on PS2 and those were the completest racing games on PS2 for me.

I used to love this game until 2 years ago where it became too monotonous and every sequel a copy cat of the other with only a change in the name; I hope this new one is a better version and I hope it's not an online game!

Well, NFS Run was different for example. NFS Most Wanted too was different than normal NFS (as it was Burnout Paradise copy :P ).

Still, I expect things to be better in NFS Rivals.

They will make a massive appeal if they bring back the "undeground" name for the next one after Rivals. NFS: Underground 3 will get alot of attention
