daddy_fizz
I seem to be having the problem where nodenabler 3.0 sticks around after it runs and will only close if killed in task manager. Also after Nodenabler ran, it seem to have reset some of my settings (i.e. back to standard view instead of advanced view). Has anyone else had these problems? I chose to run NOD32 with self-defense disabled 24/7.

LeetPirate
Hello. The problem is not with Windows Update.I have duplicated my earlier experience. It appears that NOD32 .417 contacts Windows Security Center at 09:00 EST, on my computer. NOD32 has been unsuccessful in auto updates as I am offline. It communicates to Windows Security Center that it is out of date. I have enclosed the necessary screenshots illustrating the condition. When back online, an update of NOD32 solves the issue. No Windows updates, etc. carried out. I do not auto update windows, either, preferring to be notified. This issue did not take place on .314 mara-fix 1.5. As for the installation issue, only on .417 from forum front page. None previously experienced. The hang took place after installation bar indicated installation complete, and computer left on for many minutes with activity light off. Actually, it was not hanging, but locked. That was the reason for hard booting. After booting with normal option, all was well and no errors were observed.chrisTM out.I don't know what you did, but you don't need to kill the security centre to solve that problem. Look at the picture you had in your earlier post.http://www.nsaneforums.com/index.php?act=a...ost&id=1868If you looked to the left pane you would have seen where it says "Change the way Security Centre alerts me". Click that then uncheck all the options and Security Centre will stop harassing you like a nagging bitch.
Bizarre™
@LeetPirate:That may be true for Vista, but it's different for XP.
Donaldo
How The Service Center Looks In Windows XP ProI, myself had the same issue that chrisTM was facing - the reason why I did not disable my Security Center Service whilst fixing that issue was purely because some alerts that I need would be lost.To fix that issue and at the same time in order to retain customization of my alerts, I opted for the following fix (but like Bizarre™ always says - "each to his own.")I like to eat my cake and . . . . . . . . . . . . have it, too (if you guys don't mind.)
Noddy
I have fixed this Windows alert in NOD32 by disabling the Security Center Service. While one can see the usefulness of having the firewall alert on by checking the 'firewall,' what is the use of having the 'Virus Protection' check marked to on? Could you cite a real life ESET situation where your method is more advantageous?
Donaldo
We :pirate: :pirate: download a lot of warez like keygens, patches, trial-resetters, replacement-.dlls, etc, etc which get flagged off as malwares, viruses, spywares, trojans, worms (ugh - we guys know better, more often than not these are just false positives.) Hence, we disable real-time file system protection while downloading these fixes and sometimes do forget to re-enable the real-time file system protection. This is when the alert from the Windows security System (as a tray icon window bubble notification, not as a NOD32 notification) keeps prompting you with the following 2 reminders (it's time to re-enable the real-time file system protection.):-"ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.0 is turned off. Click this ballon to fix this problem.""Your system is exposed to risk. For more information, click this notification."ps:- During these reminders the NOD32 tray icon continues to remain green - does not turn red or even orange. Bizarre™
I have a sure method of using warez-related things without risking my system to infection: Virtual OS :pirate:
Donaldo
Yeah, in this 'business,' we must have additional precautions - in all different stages ( be it Security Center or Virtual OS.) It's about multiple layers of protection - more is better, every stage protection is best. :pirate: Hey Bizarre™ get your ass back in here, you forgot to add . . . . . "each to his own." :pirate:

shought
So these problems were not related to any fix?Donaldo, if true, could you please summarize what you just told in the ESET V4 Problems/Questions/Support topic? I'll add it to the second post, if you don't have the time then don't mind, I will do it some time when I get back this afternoon. :pirate:

hullboy
I have installed on my PC ESET4_Box4EVER_4.30A.I have two simple questions:1. what does this new box-mara-fix 1.1 add to the "fix" provided by ESET4_Box4EVER_4.30A?2. if it adds something, what do I have to do to install box-mara-fix 1.1? Is it right to "unlock" my previous installation using ESET4_Box4EVER_4.30A and then run box-mara-fix 1.1?Thanks for the clarification and for your appreciated job guys :D
chrisTM
Hello.I too, opt for the Donaldo solution and his reasons. It strikes a good balance between security and the heavy- handed nag screens. And the manufacturers think they are being elegant....Well maybe for some.Coconut cake, by the way. Thanks again.chrisTM out. Ah, owned!!! I get the point - going for your method. donizme
i just came across this thread so hi every1, i would like to point out a few 'flaws' of eset 4... :P it does not scan for keyloggers!!! eset did this on purpose for sum reason not sure y...it displays many pop ups when program control is enabled which is a big problem for me...however, it has the least impact on system resources than even NIS 2009 and its protection is pretty good for many malware... :D
