The new nod32 4.0.417 is out

With ESET4 Box4EVER 4.30A installed & Locked, will ESS automatically update the modules to v4.0.417 or would we have to do it manually by "Unlocking" the fix first icon14.gif

Answer to my own question.

Export & Save Current Settings(This will save the Update Servers List as well as Exclusions List)

Self-Defense - OFF

Run Box Fix -UNLOCKED

Reboot

Run ESS/EAV over existing set-up

Insert U-Name/P-Word used to download new version

Reboot

Import saved Current Settings

Run Box Fix -LOCKED

Self-Defense -ON

Reboot

Hey presto!

New version running well here with previous personal settings & Update- Servers list - showing 31Days Remaining.icon1.gif

All i can say is Box4Ever (on) nsane icon10.gif

Thanks to @jofre for the U/P (just grabbed ESS v4.0.417.0) and @shought for the clear instructions for ESET4 Box4EVER 4.30A :)

I'm about to upgrade ESS and this time I'll be using ESET4 Box4EVER 4.30A on my main machine, I'll report back how things go?

Cheers

MiNodlogin. whats the difference between it and the normal Nodlogin? is it more updated as in software wise and its data base?

MiNodlogin doesn't need real-time protection disabled when running 4 the 1st time as Nodlogin!

You don't need to disable realtime protection at all when using NodLogin. Use the latest version 9.9b.

mara-fix 1.5 work fine on ESS 4.0.417 FR on XP Pro SP3 32 bits FR

Thanks both :rolleyes:

Question guys: we're currently hosting the retail version of ESET NOD32 Antivirus and Smart Security, but to be used with Trial fixes the Trial version is better. Has anyone gotten his hands on that already?

As far as i know, the trial version on the eset.com, or the eset.eu site, is still the .314 .(for any language)

Unless someone got it from other place, it's not released yet, i think.

i use the home version with the mara-fix 1.5, it turn my version as trial without problem.

after a reboot, and a few minutes, i even got the last definition update (3979).

maybe i'm just lucky

New version of the ESET4 Box4EVER Addon : (version 1.0.1)

http://www.nsaneforums.com/index.php?showt...ost&p=85619

The only different is that the addon now works on 64 bit Windows.

I have been playing with another addon; a background program (no icon) that relays the virus signature info to the genuine ESET tray icon. But I could only make it work on 32 bit Windows :D

Hmm, I think I'll drop it for now. The Box fix + addon is more than good enough for me. It will be the solution I'll use on family and friends computers.

Update : new version (1.0.2). The addon now detects if you use EAV or ESS and selects the tray icon accordingly. Now the colors match the genuine ESET tray icon :rolleyes:

Could you PM me a copy of this? I'd like to see it :frusty:

I'm confused? I thought the whole point of the trial fixes is that they "convert" the retail to trial?

My upgrade to ESS 4.0.417 Retail + ESET4 Box4EVER 4.30A / WinXP Pro SP3 32-bit was flawless. As ever I chose to un-install the previous ESS before I put the latest in place ;) (as this was on my main puter it was not a clean install from the ground up)

boxes new fix seems to work a treat! :D As per his instructions I ran his fix twice as it detected the ESS I had installed was indeed the retail version, everything seems to work 100%

It only took two clicks of the Update button to pull in the 20MB update! :P

Are there any pitfalls to using the Retail builds with ESET4 Box4EVER 4.30A that I have not yet come across?

I've noticed it seems to take many weeks for a new build to appear as a trial download (Unless there's a severe bug in the current trial versions that is, as happened with some of the early ESET 3.x build :D )

@brianwarming

As I'm sure the vast majority of users are piloting an x86 OS, I am confident you would make a LOT of people v-happy if you could perfect a way of transferring the sigs info to the genuine ESET pop-up ;) I wait with baited breath! :P

@Mo Husen

Thanks for the up, but that file has the same MD5: 17303ab05921e2ba4564efe4f0c68fd4 as the Retail previously posted? :P

I sure got it as Trial Version from Eset, last night.

it is now running on my PC, here are the details:

Virus signature database: 3981 (20090401)

Update module: 1028 (20090302)

Antivirus and antispyware scanner module: 1204 (20090401)

Advanced heuristics module: 1092 (20090309)

Archive support module: 1092 (20090324)

Cleaner module: 1040 (20090401)

Anti-Stealth support module: 1010 (20090302)

Personal firewall module: 1044 (20090121)

Antispam module: 1011 (20090114)

SysInspector module: 1211 (20090325)

Self-defense support module : 1005 (20081105)

I need trial U/P to install before re-Locking with Box4ever.

It is possible that although their site is showing v314, the d/l is actually v417, IMO.

I'd started to form the impression that there was no such thing as a trial installer .msi being offered by ESET any more?

I noticed even back to the the latter updates to 3.x that the retail and trial downloads direct from ESET had the same MD5?

I thought the thing that makes it in to a trial is a trial key from ESET? (or one of the fixes from this site? errhumm :P LOL) And it is the trial-key that converts the same file INTO the trial version?

Can someone please confirm either way?

Here are the module versions from my install just after the first update...

Virus signature database: 3979 (20090331)

Update module: 1028 (20090302)

Antivirus and antispyware scanner module: 1203 (20090331)

Advanced heuristics module: 1092 (20090309)

Archive support module: 1092 (20090324)

Cleaner module: 1039 (20090320)

Anti-Stealth support module: 1010 (20090302)

Personal firewall module: 1045 (20090325)

Antispam module: 1011 (20090114)

SysInspector module: 1211 (20090325)

Self-defence support module: 1005 (20081105)

And these modules have been updated since the installation (approx 12hours ago)...

Virus signature database: 3981 (20090401)

Antivirus and antispyware scanner module: 1204 (20090401)

Cleaner module: 1040 (20090401)

No, no, there is really a difference, because last time I used the box-fix it didn't have to change my retail version into the trial, but now it did.

This time I used the installer which we got from the ESET downloads for users page, last time the one from the Trial versions download.

OK, guys. Here is the ultimate fix. This fix is created by box and me. It is called box, mara- fix. What will this fix do?

- It will lock trial to 31 (it will convert from retail to trial if necessary);

- It will enable Self-Defense automatically after using the fix (optional)

- It will remove trial marks from Eset gui (optional, "Upgrade to full version..." from update section can not be removed)

- It will automatically add user name and password "eset" on x64 systems

Few notes:

- Self-Defense must be disabled before applying and can be re-enabled later.

- First update must be done manually if you just converted to trial;

- Trial marks removal works for all languages in 32-bit installers and only for English in 64-bit installer;

- Fix is 2.77MB size, because of extra tools included for trial marks removal;

- After enabling Self-Defense with this fix, immediate reboot is required - user will have 30 seconds to save all work (countdown to reboot is self-protected, if user tries to terminate it, computer will immediately reboot)

- Same executable is used for unlocking registry and when unlocking, backup of Eset gui will be restored (trial marks will be restored)

@shought

This fix is created so it can replace boxforever and mine fix with just this one, so users are not confused. I did a lot of testings and everything worked fine for me, but I would like if someone else could also do the testing before the fix is added to frontpage.

Download:

Hosting: mediafire.com
Sharekey: /?z0mnmmuzut3

Archive is password protected. You can find password in WinRar comments. NOD32 detect this fix as a virus, as it do with most AutoIt stuffs. You can safely ignore it.

Cheers :win:

Hello.

Successful install and update of 4.0.417.0 to 3981 definitions when applying mara-fix 1.5 after 4.0.314.0 uninstall. 4.0.417.0 from frontpage, mara-fix from earlier download. The install seemed a little sketchy, though I have not found any errors.

I'll have to wait and see about automatic updates. The previous version did automatically update successfully.

@chrisTM

I would recommend that you use box, mara- fix since mara- fix delays driver which Eset uses for self defense and this creates small security risk. If you don't use Self-Defense then it is OK.

Cheers :win:
