ESET v4 Fixes

I use two only becuase i believe (possibly incorrectly) that the different license finders (nodlogin/minodlogin/nodenable) pull the licenses from different sites/databases. If they pull from the same sites than it doesn't really make sense to have two running

What I know is that Nodlogin and MiNodlogin get their licenses from different databases. Don't know about between MiNodlogin and Nodenabler though(whether the site/database is the same).

MiNodlogin will check your existing u/p to ensure it is still valid, if it is, MiNodlogin will not change your u/p unless you 'force' it.

If you want 2 to run, it should be OK, I guess!

At the moment NodEnabler need self-defense to be disable before it can insert license.

But there has been reports that NodEnabler work in Windows 7 without disabling self-defense.

It may look like self-defense does not function properly in Windows 7 (but that is just my guess!)

Maybe someone could test it out!

Nodlogin gets you a license. Does that mean you can upgrade to retail version? Read in this forum that retail has priority for updates. Not that it's a big issue for me.

The best anti virus is common sense

Where have you been? :dance2:

Oops! forgot to answer your question. The answer is Yes.

I believe ultimately the username and password dictates if you are a retail user or not and adjusts the priority accordingly therefore you may still install the trial or the retail installer which will yield the same result in the end as the u/p will convert the trial to retail in a manner of speaking.

As long as you have a license, you can get updates for modules, which IMO, is one of the very important factors in detecting viruses.

I checked some time ago, and the trial version in fact DOES update the modules

The module date of my trial version was even later then the one I got using the retail version...

There is a setting, I believe in Update, whether or not you want to update the modules.

@shought, box:

I believe ESET prioritizes module updates for licensed users.

They do prioritize, but you will get them eventually, I believe :dance2: :dance2:

The new nod32 4.0.417 is out

With ESET4 Box4EVER 4.30A installed & Locked, will ESS automatically update the modules to v4.0.417 or would we have to do it manually by "Unlocking" the fix first icon14.gif

Version updates do NOT commence either you have a crack or not. You have to install a clean version of 4.0.417.

Also, you can install 4.0.417 right over the previous version 4 and it will retain your previous settings, unless you instruct it not to.

Ok guys, here's what I need:

- Confirmations: Does ESET4 Box4EVER 4.30A work with version 4.0.417? Does mara-fix 1.5 work with version 4.0.417?

Please note: Uninstalling ESET4 Box4EVER 4.30A before upgrading is recommended, if you got some balls(and the time, unlike me) please try upgrading without uninstalling, I think this should be possible, but I am UNSURE.

Thanks for any answers to these questions! ;)

I just heard from LeetPirate that ESET recommends uninstalling any previous version before installing this version, so we'd better ;)

Ok, I can now confirm that using the box-fix follow these instructions work, they'll be up on the frontpage as soon as possible.

--------------------------
-: NsaneDown :-
-: Instructions :-
--------------------------

Advanced user or novice user, follow these steps carefully or you'll end up with a fucked up installation.

1. !!! UNINSTALL ANY FIX USED BEFORE !!!

2. !!! UNINSTALL ANY EARLIER VERSION OF ESET (RECOMMENDED BY ESET) !!!

3. Reboot your PC.

4. Install ESET NOD32 Antivirus/Smart Security 4.0.417 x32/x64.

5. DISABLE Self-defense.

Note: To DISABLE the Self-defense, open ESET, press keyboard <F5>, select <Antivirus and antispyware>,
UNCHECK the <Enable Self-defense>, <OK>, and <OK>.

6. Reboot your PC (otherwise Self-defense won't be DISABLED)

7. Install ESET4 Box4EVER 4.30A (Launch the EXE and press [LOCK]

8. ENABLE Self-defense.

Note: To ENABLE the Self-defense, open ESET, press keyboard <F5>, select <Antivirus and antispyware>,
CHECK the <Enable Self-defense>, <OK>, and <OK>.

9. Reboot your PC (otherwise Self-defense won't be ENABLED).

10. It might take up to two days before you receive your FIRST(only the first) update,
if you chose to convert the Retail to the Trial ESET will show RED in the beginning,
after you received your first update this will be solved, your trial should remain 31 days FOREVER though.

11. Make sure that you [UNLOCK] ESET before uninstalling it.

Note: This fix will cause the Virus signature database not to show in the ESET tray message box.
You can check it in the ESET User Interface though.

------------------------------
-: Thanks/Credits :-

Thanks to box for making the fix!
