ESET v4 Fixes

Recommended Posts

Using nodlogin 9.9b something "funny" happened. After a reboot ESS stated that the license has expired and I couldn't even get to the settings panel. So, not being able to do anything else I just pressed the Upgrade to full version button and suddenly ESS turned green again not saying anything about trial and counting down days. I don't know if it'll remain that way but has anyone else tried something like that?

Always had the self defense enabled AFTER installing nodlogin and rebooting once.

I'm afraid there is a deeper flaw with Box Fix 1.0V :D

Although it allows you to tick the Self Defence box, this seems to be only a cosmetic thing because Self Defence is clearly not working! It allows alterations to be performed on ESET settings with the use of a simple .reg file!

On top of this after applying the box fix I also get an error that on start-up says "Failed to read firewall configuration" This only seems to happen on the first boot after applying the fix but NONE of the other fixes I've tried have given any error messages at all.

I have tried the new Box fix twice on clean installs of WinXP Pro Corp SP3 32-bits and I got the same results each time.

I've also been trying the ru-board fix, this does seem to work 100% with the Self Defence box ticked, not only is the box ticked it also protects the ESET settings which is the whole point of Self Defence!

Having found the box fix 1.0V leaves Self Defence disabled even with SD clearly ticked I even tried applying the registry Permissions/Deny instructions from the ru-board instructions but this didn't help either, so whatever the ru-board fix achieves that the box fix does not, it does not seem to be connected with manually write-protecting part of the ESET registry settings.

To add further clarity it seems it is sufficient to have MS .NET Framework v2.050727 installed to run the box fix, though I have also tried installing the box fix with .NET Framework v3.5.21022.8 installed and got the same results.

Hope this info helps development of the box fix :welcome:

nodlogin and nodenable are consider license fix?

what i was thinking was that i could have nl or ne installed with the sceduler setup but not click (enable) as a backup. since i could go into user setup and erase user/password inf if i had to to use the trial fix.

i was looking at nl and ne installled and then este with boxafterwards since box you all said you can enble self defense afterwards.

m or m trial fix i dont know if you can enable self defense afterwards. ????

Yes, they are :welcome:

with mara-fix and marsufix you can NOT Enable Self-defense afterwards, with box fix you can, but as Hoca just mentioned it might not work properly. So better consider this in Beta.

"BOX_ESET 4 Trial Reset" does not work.

it will turn the program into trial but the counter will still go down if you enable self-defense (and not shutdown e)

BOX can't crack this because self-defense will block permission to change eset registry keys so packagetag value will not changed.

.

The Eset Trial Reset.exe file does seem to work over here, as does the scheduler, the only thing that doesn't work correctly is the reset after boot. When I reboot and click ESET right after login it shows 31 days, but if I close it and reopen in it will show 30 days.

Consider it Beta.

Thanks for your evaluation, I've asked box's MSN or something, so we can speak and figure out what exactly is wrong and all.

Just auto updated to 3944. Had removed schedules for nodlogin and still nothing indicates that I'm using a cracked trial. No license expiration, no trial days countdown. Don't know what happened but I'll have to wait a few more days to see what happens.

Nodlogin is not supposed to be used with a trial version. It requires a retail version. So when you "upgraded" to retail, you fixed Nodlogin and no longer are using a trial version. All it does is insert new UN & PWs into the retail (again not trial) version when the current ones get blacklisted. That's the whole beauty of Nodlogin (& Nodenabler), that they allow one to use a full retail version rather than a trial version. With a retail version, even the program modules will update and the retail versions get priority on updates when ESET has server problems.

Mine also shew the message :- "Failed to read firewall configuration " and I gave up of using it.

Your information I believe, is very useful and for sure will help Box to develop a better fix.

I just found out yesterday how NodLogin inserts licenses in v4 :)

Try opening Username and Password setup from Update, then run NodLogin :P

You have just upgraded to the full version, there will be no trial date such as 31/30days. What you should have is a License validity date but sometime this don't show up at all.

Your u/p will be blacklisted in a matter of time, and you need to run Nodlogin again in order to get new u/p for updating.

If you want to use trial fix, then don't use Nodlogin or Nodenabler. Use the others fix in the fp.

Thank you all for the feedback on Box fix.

"Failed to read firewall configuration"

I get this every time I started ESET with my ethernet card disabled or disconnected.

Yes, Self-defense is "partially" disabled for registry keys but still fully engaged for ESET files.

Fix DOES NOT make any modification to any of ESET's files.

ESET eval servers are still overloaded so you will have problems updating.

@box

Thanks for giving us a more detailed description of what your fix does.

Do you not think it may be best to let us know of any features that are disabled (if only partially) after using your fix? That way we can make a more enlightened choice on which fix will work best for us

By having the Self Defence ticked I'm sure a lot of people that tried your fix were under the impression that their ESET software was giving them 100% protection (very likely for the first time! errhumm ;) LOL).

On both occasions my Ethernet card was enabled and connected when the firewall config error appeared, but as I said it only appeared on the first boot after applying your fix, and after many reboots didn't appear again? Do you know what is making this error appear?

It is a pity that Self Defence does not protect the registry with your fix, I've only ever had ESET software knocked out once over the many years I've used it and this was due to something malicious messing with the registry settings :D

You are right about the update servers, during all the various testing I have undertaken today I had two updates dry up halfway through! ESS considered it had updated successfully just because it had called home but the sigs date had not moved on, but another click of the update button pulled in the huge update! ;) WOW! a 20MB update! that can't be helping the load on the servers! :D

Hope fix 1.5V will not be too far away? keep up the good work!

A note to the board... don't you think it may be pertinent to include the ru-board fix on the first page? The more people testing these fixes surely means the more info that will be feedback to the board so newer better fixes can be made from the collated information? just a thought mind :frusty:

@Sub0Freeze:

Have you tried in the Frontpage?

Won't work since WillHostForFood is down, we're still looking for a solution...

Try to download here: http://www.eset.com/download/free_trial_download_int.php

You will have to click 'Click here' under ESS and give them an email address(can be disposable), then they will send you your trial details.

The ru-board fix is my old method (Box4ever) of cracking ESET. The biggest drawback is that ESET can NOT update its own data in the registry. Information like "latest" as the current virus signature is not good.

Because of the bad press about my 1.01 fix, I've decided to put it on ice. I am completely discouraged.

Eset4_Trial Reset_1.05A (with FULL Self-defense protection) ;)

Apparently not discouraged enough.

This crack is for ESET Smart Security 4 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4. It will work on version 3. It just resets the trial period every time you start your computer. It was tested using version 4.0.314 on WinXP (x86/x64) & Vista (x86/x64).

Installation:

1. Install ESET. (If already installed then skip to step 2.)

2. Execute the crack to install or remove the ESET 4 Trial Reset.

3. After installation, Disable the "Self-defense, restart the computer, Enable the "Self-defense, and update ESET.

4. To uninstall, just disable the "Self-defense, restart the computer, execute the crack, and enable the Self-defense.

NOTE: To Disable ( or Enable) the Self-defense, open ESET, press keyboard <F5>, select <Antivirus and antispyware>, UNCHECK or CHECK the <Enable Self-defense>, <OK>, and <OK>.

YES! it is with FULL Self-defense protection.

@Box

Many thanks for the new 1.05A fix! ;)

As I type I am Ghosting a fresh system (WinXP Pro Corp SP3 32-bit) to test it on, I will report back later how I go on?

Can I confirm that at step 2. I should install 1.05A with Self Defence still switched ON?

I realise the ru fix disables showing the current sig version from the system tray, and this is inconvenient but not the end of the world? But I side with you, that if a fix can be achieved without spoiling this handy way to check sig version all the better! ;)

If you look back at my posts I was singing the praises of your BoxMaraEset3Fix1.4 - (auto) fix, the main reason I did not move to your later Eset3Box4ever 2.1 = (auto) was due to the system tray sig info problem. BoxMaraEset3Fix1.4 - (auto) worked flawlessly for me up to only a few weeks ago when with the launch of version 4 my version 3.x crapped out and started for the first time to ask for a username and password? (not sure if this was merely a coincidence or not?) A quick un-install/re-install of ESS 3.0.672.0 and BoxMaraEset3Fix1.4 - (auto) put things back to normal and this is what I am still using on my main puter, so I like many others are very appreciative of your hard work Box, so do not feel disheartened :smoke:

As I understand it, the whole point of this board is to feedback information be it good news or bad? Yesterday brought bad news, it matters not... I see victories ahead! ;)

Keep your chin up! :)

IF you restart your computer (daily) or any time before the trial period expires (30 days) and you don't care if the trial date counts down, and you want 100% Self-defense, then yes.

IF you keeps your computer on weekly or monthly and you freak out when the trial date drops below 29 days and you can do with 50% (file protection only) Self-defense, then no.

Well put Hoca and I am delighted at the progression Box is making on his fixes and the determination displayed by Box is very admirable.

Keep up the great work everyone.

My only request would be to have Box's fix keep the days at 31/30 without having to restart the computer... as I understand it the latest fix by Box (Eset4_Trial Reset_1.05A) requires a restart within a 31/30 day period.

I just read your post Box and I understand... thanks for the effort and I will begin testing your crack ASAP.

HI,BOX ! :dance2:

Mine is WinXP Pro SP3 (Genuine) - 32bits.

Tested your "ESET_Trial Reset.1.05A" Fix with ESET Smat Security 4.0.314 , followed your instructions, updated manually as

usual, (got update with just 1 click on "update") and got Virus signature database 3945 (2009.03.18), same as ESET.com

Threat Center, rebooted computer after the update and shows trial version expires in 31 days.

I know still have to wait and see if the 31 days goes down and if it auto-updates from now on.

None error found. Seems good.

Good work ! Will give you news later.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Glad to know you didn`t give up :king: ...and MANY,MANY THANKS !!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PS : I changed Win Data/Time to 20th.March and still read 31 days left, but is better to wait for that day...

cheers

Jofre

Enabled or Disabled, it doesn't matter as long as you disable it, restart PC, and enable it afterwards.

I was just kidding. :king: ESET is employing the same method as Norton and Kaspersky. However, Norton and Kaspersky don't require you to restart the PC for the protection to be fully engaged. N and K are immediate. Bed time now!
