visualbuffs
Right now the cheapest Windows 8 tablet is somewhere around $400 but that will change in the following months according to Paul Otellini, Intel's CEO. According to him the starting price for a Windows 8 Intel powered device will be half that, closer to $200, in the near future. If you look at touch-enabled Intel-based notebooks that are ultrathin using [bay Trail] processors. Those prices are going to be down to as low as $200This price drop will happen once the new line of Atom chips hits the market later this year. The new Atom, codenamed Bay Trail, will bring significant improvements to the current models. It is actually expected to double the performance of the current model while providing long lasting battery life in a very thin, light and cool package. The Bay Trail chips will reportedly offer full day use and weeks of standby while allowing OEMs to create devices as thin as eight millimeters (0.3 inches).Devices with such a low price tag would most likely indicate that they will be of the 7 and 8-inch variety and will run Windows Blue. Of course there are other tablets running Android that have an even lower price points but those machines run on ARM while these devices using Intel's chips will allow for a full Windows 8 experience, including access to legacy apps.Unfortunately there's still some waiting involved for those who would be interested in such a device, as both the new Atom Bay Trail chips and Windows 8.1 (Blue) will likely launch somewhere in Q3 of this year.Source: Cnet
PrEzi
Even if they'd start from 50$I wouldn't even poke one with a stick...AMD Brazos FTW !
Ambrocious
But of course I'd buy one of these...I need something for target practice.

calguyhunk
Windows 8 Intel powered deviceAMD Brazos FTW !What really matters right now, is that there are gonna be x86 (all-in-one) devices for $200 if this 'prediction' is to be believed. If this were to really happen, it would democratize computation in the developing world like nothing else thus far. Here's hoping that this actually happens sooner rather than later
a2ms
I think this is interesting news, more for the fact thay they would be real intel x86 processor instead of the crappy ARM ones. Then again, I still don't see why would I buy a tablet (android, win or ipad) having a smartphone and a laptop...
PrEzi
I'm not against x86 in tablets, but against crappy Atoms.Hopefully we'll see proper x86 CPUs with good performing graphics overall (I'm talking about AMD APU's in general). And these are a lot cheaper than Atoms and have a better Perf/Watt... Wonder why we don't see them already in tablets ?[putting my tin foil hat] Maybe another monopolistic game from the blue side ? I would be happy to be wrong, it can also my prejudice, but really not sure about it.The question is, where was Intel doing till now? ARM ate the mobile business and they were just sleeping? Whether they come with Intel or AMD is irrelevant to me atm as long as that do come to the market :)@ a2ms - These will really be for first time computer users, who've thus far had to do with GPRS connections on their 3 inch cell-phone screens at best or have never owned any computation device at all :(Those things will not really be meant for people who've already had owned desktops/laptops/cell phones/tablets :)
