He had done quite well as a contract programmer and could therefore afford to have his body cryogenically frozen. He wakes up to see a crowd of faces peering at him through glittering visors. "How do you feel?" "Fine. Does this mean you've found a cure for my illness?" "Oh yes, that was easy, sorted centuries ago." "What do you mean centuries ago?" "Well, we never really got a lid on the population so there was no enthusiasm for waking the frozen bodies." "Well then, why now? What date is it? Why me?" "We need you.
