I'm not into development stuff, but, Android does have a better future than Windows. Windows isn't going anywhere here, it's not doing great in mobile, nor great in tablets and Windows 8 is very weak on PCs. So, I'd always advice you to take Android into consideration.

Also, you will need to take a little more effort in making sure that if you are making an Android app, that app isn't lost between lakhs of other apps. Incase you make a good app, the effort could be rewarding one way or the other. :)

Ok, from what I understand you're not sure whether to continue developing Metro applications or switch to Android, is that correct?

Well, I am a .NET developer myself so I understand where you're coming from. Between Windows 8 (Metro) and Android development, the better choice is definitely Android. It's a much more popular/widespread platform and thus Android developer are of more demand.

As for using C# to develop Android applications, well, it's complicated. The answer would be yes and no. Let me explain, you can't use C# directly to create Android applications BUT you can use C# through Mono to achieve the same thing.

I did a little research in this matter and while a lot of .NET developer like Mono since it uses C# which they are familiar with and some argue that it's a lot easier to port Mono applications compared to native Java applications. On the other hand, some say that it's better to use native Java and avoid the intermediary (Mono) since learning Java should be easy for C# developers anyways considering their syntax is very similar.

In any case, if you'd like to get started on Mono, I suggest you check these video tutorials (torrent), they should prove useful to you.

I hope I managed to help you a little bit, good luck.
